Hello Turtle community !
I need help. đą
For my upcomming PhD, I need to sample several turtle species to obtain chemical data based on their environment. For that I need to contact rescue centers, sanctuary, etc
I have found rather easily contact informations for sanctuaries working with marine turtles but I struggle to find centers working with Malaclemmys Terrapin. The difficulty is that I need tropical latitudes, so the south of the USA would be great, in coastal areas to have specimens living in brackish waters. The majority on the centers I have found are in NJ or NC.
So if you have informations, it would be great đ

Supporting evidence:
1. Humans say âowâ, even if they havenât actually been hurt. Itâs just a thing they say when they think they might have been hurt, but arenât sure yet.
2. Humans collect shiny things and decorate their bodies and nests with them. The shinier the better, although each individual has a unique taste for style and colouring
3. Humans are not an aquatic or even amphibious species, but they flock to bodies of water simply to play in it. They canât even hold their breath all that long; they just love to splash!
4. When night falls and the sky goes dark, humans become drowsy and begin to cocoon themselves in soft, fluffy bedding.
5. Some humans spend time in each otherâs nests! Just for fun! Itâs not their nest; theyâre just visiting each other.
6. Some humans use pigments and dyes to make their bodies flashy and colourful! They even attach shiny dangly bits to their cartalidgous membranes!
7. Humans are very clever, and sometimes adopt creatures from other species into their family units. They donât seem to notice the obvious differences, and often raise them alongside their own young!
8. If a human sees another creature in distress, they can commonly be observed trying to help! Even at their own risk, most humans are deeply compassionate creatures!
9. If a human hears a particularity catchy sound or tune, it will often mimic it, even to the point of annoying themselves!
10. Sneezes are entirely involuntary, and completely adorable. Especially when the human in question becomes frustrated
11. Humans love treats!!! Some more than others. Many humans will save these treats specifically for a later date when they are in need of comfort or reassurance. IE, pickles, pop tarts, Popsicles, etc
12. Theyâre learning to travel in space!!! They canât get very far, but theyâre trying!!! So far, theyâve made it to the end of their yard, and have found rocks

Sorry every non-French one, it's Kaamelott week
We're going to spam you, we're a bunch of excited puppies at the moment.
The only existence of Resume is the worst plot in the Twilight Saga BIT the actress choosen to play her in the movie was the perfect choice. Even as a grow up she looks like a mix of Robert and Kristen and she's fucking beautiful đ€©
Please consider the following: angsty, brooding teen Renesmee renaming herself to Resentment. It's both a way to let everyone know she's Going Through Stuffâą and also what she feels towards her parents for giving/allowing her to be given such a ridiculous name
This gave me such a serotonin boost, thank you. Please consider my interpretation:
As a french person I need to add some context and rectification to this.
- France is a "laĂŻque" country, it means that religion, whatever it is, is not welcome at school. If you come at school with a "jesus is my lord and savior" shirt, a kippa, a hijab or any obvious religious sign, you will need to change. It is one of the main points of our constitution.
- In universities, women can wear hijabs, I'm currently studying in France and I can attest that they can
- Burkini were banned and it caused quite the scandal in France. The justification is that as people from "occident" we see the dissimulation of a woman's body as something that can be an obligation by a man or a patriartcal society or religion. And for the government, there are other solution to cover your body that the burkini, which is officialy a religious coverage.
- Halal markets exists and there is also halal products sold in almost every supermarket, it will not be ban
- Mothers who wear veil can be around or in school without problem, I don't even see how it would be possible to prevent them to be near schools. In some place, or cities, almost every women wear some kind of veil, so...
- Everyone can choose the gender of their doctor for a consultation. The exception are places were there is only one doctor for several cities or emergencies. If you came giving birth at a hospital or bleeding , you will be attend to by whoever is there. Man or woman.
- To resume, religion is not something that should dictate, or even be a part of, you public life in France. It's almost against our constitution. And being veiled is seen as an extreme way of practicing Islam. Many muslim women arenât. In the same way, catholics who show their religion in their public life or job can be judged too but it isn't shown by clothes so it's harder to pass a law against it.
Women who wear a simple veil or hijab arenât bothered by the law (even if racism is always a problem), it's concern those who wear burkas, facial veils and burkini (who can be replace by a leggin and a long sleeve shirt and then there is no problem). Honestly is ther a non-muslim country where they can wear complete burkas without any skin or eyes visible ?
I don't say that islamophobia is not a problem in France, it is and it is a big problem. But laicity is a pillar for our country and it concerns every religions.
How did I not hear about France banning hijabs? Whatâs going on?
long story short, thereâs legislation in the process of being passed that would
ban girls under 18 from wearing any form of religious head covering in public, and although itâs obviously aimed at muslim women, it would also affect other faith groups that practice similar forms of modest dress
ban islamic swimwear in schools and public (there is already a modest swimwear ban in place at public beaches, this just extends it)
ban mothers wearing hijab from entering schools or participating in school field trips or extra curriculars
ban the slaughter of halal poultry - the cheapest and most easily accessible form of meat protein for the muslim community
extend school hijab bans to universities
prevent muslim women from choosing healthcare providers based on gender (which many muslim women prefer to do, since many exams require removal of clothing, etc)
ban muslim parents from homeschooling
force halal markets to sell pork and alcohol or face closure
ban foreign flags at weddings

(ou papy Lionel đ„ș)
Currently, I have to finish around 10 master applications in the next three days because I have done nothing about it in the last three WEEKS and now the deadline is coming đ±đ
There are 'I have an appointment at 4 pm so I can't do anything all day' type of people. In my case, the result of full scholarship is going to be some day in May, I've been sobbing, being depressed and absolutely doing nothing for 51 days.
