I'm sorry but as much as I love and ship narumitsu, Miles's "unnecessary feelings" line is primarily about him questioning his morals and methods as a prosecutor. Miles who was believed he was doing good and enacting justice by getting guilty verdicts for all defendants, who lost faith in finding the truth because he couldn't trust anyone anymore. He was shown that the truth is not so unobtainable by Phoenix, and he began to question if he was truly doing the right thing all along. That's why I love the "unnecessary feelings" line so much; it marks the start of Miles's redemption arc.
Of course you can headcanon the "unnecessary feelings" line to have romantic implications. But Klavier gets my vote in this case.

I do not like Snow's characterization in SOTR. As much as I love when the main antagonist has a personal connection to the protagonist, they still need to seem like a threat. The garden scene did not make Snow an interesting foil to Haymitch, nor did it showcase his pettiness in a believable way. It just made Snow pathetic and out of character.
THG Trilogy Snow would used that oppurtunity to exert his control and he would have never allowed himself to seem so weak in front of a random district kid. SOTR Snow wasn't intimidating. His attempts at scaring Haymitch felt inconsequential, even though I knew how the story would end. Honestly, this quote from SOTR said it the best, “if you can get people to laugh at someone, it makes them look weak".
Instead of vomiting and info-dumping about his ex-situationship, what would have been chilling is if Snow started showed Haymitch photos or recordings of his family and girlfriend in a "I know where they live and I can kill them anytime" way. Then Snow is the one who gives Haymitch the phone that has Lenore Dove on the other line. Haymitch has to share his, presumably, last moment with her under Snow's gaze, knowing that he wouldn't hesitate to punish him through her. And as the reader we might know that Snow has an unhealthy obsession with the Covey, but it's never made so explicit that it makes Snow look laughable.
Oh boy, this is a good observation but there’s one thing you’re missing. The game never explicitly states if Phoenix truly believed Edgeworth was dead. But at the end of Farewell My Turnabout, Phoenix says this: “I decided that the Miles Edgeworth I knew had died. …At least, that’s what I told myself”.
Phoenix lied to himself. Phoenix deluded himself into believing that the version of Miles Edgeworth he had in his head was dead. And then proceeded to act like he was grieving Edgeworth’s real death.
… I will do a full analysis on this one day.
phoenix wright is so funny like he doesn’t see edgeworth for years after edgeworth leaves school after his dad died and was lik e: edgeworth must be dead. ill never see him again. then he became a lawyer and sees edgeworth and then almost witnesses him die bc of the law and was like: thank god he didnt die. now he’s here forever. then edgeworth quits for a bit bc of cancel culture and phoenix legit is just like: hes actualy dead again and ill never see him again. hes for real dead like, he has no object permanence emotionally or physically
EVERYTHING YOU SAID YES
Notice that Miles never mentions following in MVK's footsteps or the "von Karma creed/blood/name" when talking about his motivations to prosecute. (Compared to Franziska who mentions it as soon as she is introduced in 2-2). Miles only talks about the DL-6 incident and his father's death and punishing himself in relation to why he became a prosecutor instead of a defense attorney.
Now I'm not saying Miles wasn't influenced by MVK, I'm sure he was. But ignoring the reasons that Miles explicitly tells us, and instead claiming brainwashing or abuse, is doing a huge disservice to both Miles's and Manfred's character.
Manfred is a petty, cowardly man who killed a man over a penalty and ruined Miles's life. And considering all the issues Miles and Franziska has, I believe he is also quite a flawed parent. Manfred being abusive, homophobic, sexist, etc however, is not canon (him calling Miles "worthless" is a mistranslation!!).
So yeah, I rest my case. Miles, Franziska, and Manfred are some of my favorite Ace Attorney characters and Manfred not being Pure Evil™️ honestly makes all the angst and pain so much more delicious.
“Manfred von Karma brainwashed Miles into becoming a prosecutor!”
*scratches head*
Not gonna lie, I was one of the people who believed in this claim until a friend told me otherwise and I started replaying Turnabout Goodbyes recently.
It's really wild to me how almost all of Manfred's mischaracterization can be tied back to Miles' mischaracterization from the AA fandom LMAO
Fandom telephone can be such a curse sometimes.
Is it just me or is this piece of advice from Mia, "for a lawyer, the worst of times are when you have to force your biggest smiles", really sad?
Don't get me wrong, there's nothing inherently sad about it. I get that it's about not giving up, pushing through impossible odds and rock bottom for your client. Because for most people, being a lawyer is a just a profession.
But for someone like Phoenix? Someone who hides their pain behind saving others, who never talks about their trauma, who (subconsciously or not) considers being a lawyer not just a job but their entire identity...? All of a sudden, Mia's advice isn't just about the courtroom anymore, because for Phoenix being a lawyer was always about being good enough and able to save people. To Phoenix, Mia's advice is about pretending you're fine, not letting anyone see how you truly feel or else you can't save anyone.
I'm so tired of hearing that Phoenix saved Miles without hearing about any of its implications.
Because Phoenix's savior complex is a major problem not a solution. Because Wrightworth is not about Phoenix saving Miles, it's about them saving each other. Because in Farewell My Turnabout, Miles Edgeworth said "We aren't some sort of heroes. We're only human." and he was right.
I beta read this!! You should check it out :)

Evil Athena Cykes
Character Idea: defense attorney whose gimmick is similar to Psyche Locks except instead of figuring out what they’re lying about with logic, you just have to figure out which insults would be the most hurtful to that particular person until they break down and cry. Her name is Eris Charge
I'm finally cleaning out my tabs and sorting through all the fanfics I've read so I thought tumblr would be the best place to keep my favorite fics :)
This post will contain only multi-chapter fics, completed fics will be listed first and then uncompleted ones. Assume it's a wrightworth fic unless I specify otherwise. I will also be subjecting you all to the way I tag/organize the fanfics I read. I'll try to keep spoilers out of my tags, but if you want to go in blind just click the link.
I will tag the author if I know their tumblr <3
Anyways, Enjoy!!

AUTHOR DOES NOT SUPPORT JK ROWLING!! I REPEAT, AUTHOR DOES NOT SUPPORT JK ROWLING. Phoenix and Maya are BOTH trans here
HP worldbuidling elements are actually incorporated so well into Ace Attorney plot points
You know one thing that I absolutely hate? When one recurring joke about a character overshadows their trauma and complexity. I hate when characters are treated unseriously and frankly disrespected because of one meme or gimmick that is probably massively overused anyway. And why is it always video game characters.
