Today, as I was browsing YouTube, I stumbled upon a video uploaded by SVF clips featuring scenes from the Bengali movie "Villain." Intrigued by the snippets, I promptly logged into Hoichoi to watch the full film.

However, the experience turned out to be quite disappointing. The storyline, plot, music, and dialogues were all incredibly cringeworthy. I find myself regretting my decision to watch it.

It makes me wonder why the Bengali film industry seems preoccupied with producing such films. Movies like "Bindass," "Herogiri," and others of their ilk — are they even worthy of being called movies?

I'm feeling deeply unsettled at the moment. Once a year, Koushik Ganguly and Srijit Mukherji return with their thought-provoking films, which truly stand out as gems. I find myself longing for the era of Satyajit Ray and Rituparno Ghosh, whose films defined Bangla cinema.

The sort of absolutely disgusting shit that takes place in my city, in my country, an example (TW: r*pe, m*rder):

I live in Kolkata, India. Recently, a second year doctor in training was brutally r*ped, and m*rdered, then her body was defiled again, in my city in her own workplace. It happened when she was resting after a long shift. She only wanted to take a few hour's nap before she went back to taking care of her patients, and she was accosted by what seemed like one person at first, later determined as a group. Only one person has been arrested as of yet, who conveniently gave himself up. It is suspected that this man is only a scape goat, and the real criminals are doctors and interns working in the same hospital as her (R.G.Kar Medical College). It is also suspected that this happened because she was privy to a bigger set of criminal activities taking place in this institution, and this was done to silence her. We are all angry and upset. This crime echoes that which happened in Delhi years ago (in 2012) to a physiotherapy intern. The chances are slim, since the criminals may have deep political connections, but I hope the perpetrators are brought to court. Even death wouldn't be a good enough punishment. Fuck r*pers and fuck the government.

What does a women want ?!

Women are always known or praised for beauty. For example, your hair is so beautiful, you have a mesmerizing body, your smile is pretty, you fingers are so slim, and what not. However we women are never praised for our intelligence, confidence, observation, patience, organizing ability. We never hear these compliments from anyone.

We women want respect and such mesmerizing praises from everyone even from the one we love. The world has unrealistic expectations from women. I will not mention the list of expectations because this is known to everyone.

To all the men and boys out here, respect the girl or women you love. I know you do but still praise her when she succeeds and support her even at her worst because being physical is the not the true sign of love, staying beside her when she needs you the most, wishing her the best and being happy in her success is the true sign of love and that love stays forever. Just don't keep her as "show off parody".
