life with mental illness is actually so fucking exhausting
honestly, i can’t explain the kind of tiredness that’s caused by being mentally unwell
it’s like your veins are tired. your bones are tired. your hair is tired. your actual soul is tired
never feel guilty for resting.
Same.

It’s a simple calculation. If you believe that teaching boys not to rape will lead to the eradication of all rape in our society, then let me know we can expect that to happen. How long will it take? How much teaching? How can we make certain everyone with a male human in their lives do the teaching? Got these answers? No? Then we need to teach girls and women how to protect themselves. This CLEARLY does not mean to not teach boys to not rape but you are deeply naive if you believe every boy is going to follow those teachings. We will be rid of rape as soon as we get rid of lying, stealing and killing. Until then, give girls and women the tools to protect themselves. Not doing so does a disservice to them.
I’ve known and still know rape victims. Three things I’ve learned from them is that (1) it’s never ever the victim’s fault, (2) rape is one of the most evil things human do to one another (3) and as a father of a future daughter (I assume) I’m going to give her all the tools and teachings she needs to protect herself from those monsters (self defense classes, high self esteem, body language reading skills, weapons training and etc).
Get this through your thick heads, the idea of giving women the tools to protect themselves is NOT victim blaming. It’s victim prevention. Just like teaching a child to not talk to strangers, follow strangers or take candy from a stranger is not about blaming the child but about protecting him or her against predators, we aught to be giving girls and women what they need to protect themselves against predators like R Kelly. Do all the things!
