@new-anon THANK YOU FOR THE *FEAST*
been watching a lot of first responder docs these days
me: I want to watch some good live action star wars but not in an emotional place to watch rogue one or andor
also me: *presses play on the kenobi show*
one star war viewing experience that i think has been totally 100% lost to time / cultural dominance: obi-wan being a mysterious and lowkey dubious figure in a new hope. he’s introduced doing this absolutely terrifying screech (which he never does again? before or since?), in a cloak with his face covered (classic villain coding, also very close to the emperor’s exact look) and this comes after a build up of him being some “old wizard” luke is told is dead, that he shouldn’t be going to see at all—and his dialogue only raises more questions than answers. a big part of it is alec guinness’ expert ptsd performance, of course, but there’s such a real strangeness to obi-wan’s debut. he’s a mentor, but he’s also a hardened warrior, also a deliverer of some incredibly ominous lines, also a disembodied voice, an undead, unkillable entity. i don’t think it was some accident that the “fake twist” used to hide the real twist in empire was that obi-wan killed luke’s father, is all i’m saying really. i think there’s an undercurrent in anh that, as the jedi/obi-wan/star war grew in popular culture and the light side/dark side lore got more ironed out, isn’t really accessible now. but it’s fun
cody being a fruit picking obi wan a fruit
yeah sure, okay crying but OKAY
do you think obi wan and cody would always tell each other that "duty comes first" and they both know it should but also they are both kinda lying to themselves cause they both see each other as more important than their duty, they just can't act on it. and then order 66 happens. and obi wan finds out that it was an order from palpatine. and he thinks that after everything, duty did come first for cody.
every time i watch the 212th's half assed order 66 attempt i think of that time that in tcw where cody and the rest of the 212th watch obi wan get drop kicked into a steel wall at 90 miles an hour and barely even glance his way cuz he pops right back up and they're like, "nah he's probably fine." and it just makes their, "sir, no one could have survived that fall" SO MUCH FUNNIER because they have SEEN that man survive much worse and they're just like, "well we did our best." like sirs,
the Writer Mood™ when you've got the shadow of a concept of a scene and a couple lines of dialogue bouncing around in your head like a screensaver and you have to be like buddy, come back when you're something coherent. i can't do anything with this.
oh fuck, okay
