you ever get like unreasonably proud of birds
like, they did it!
they evolved from the most successful group of animals in the history of the planet
they SURVIVED the impact that killed them all
and they're arguably just as successful as mammals, learning to survive on every single continent, which even MAMMALS haven't done
they're just so good!

the bare-shanked screech owl is a large owl species found in mountainous ranges of costa rica, panama, and a small portion of colombia. they feed primarily on large insects and small mammals such as shrews. these owls are surprisingly social and spend their lives in family-sized groups, even during breeding seasons. males and females have no differences in plumage, but the female’s call is higher-pitched.
