the bare-shanked screech owl is a large owl species found in mountainous ranges of costa rica, panama, and a small portion of colombia. they feed primarily on large insects and small mammals such as shrews. these owls are surprisingly social and spend their lives in family-sized groups, even during breeding seasons. males and females have no differences in plumage, but the female’s call is higher-pitched.

There should be a parade going through soon. I might have to make some time to watch it this year. It's been a long time since I've watched any parade, and it feels like it's been even longer.
