Everyone said they were dangerous, terrifying, Alec and Jane, the witch twins. Everyone said you should stay as far away from them as possible, everyone said that they were two of the most evil vampires to ever walk the earth and that they did evil, unspeakable, horrible things, but everyone didn’t know them like you did. 

Everyone didn’t know that when Alec came back to your room after a long day he’d give you a sweet kiss on the forehead and run you a bath before he’d even think of doing anything for himself. Everyone didn’t know that while you were still human and having nightmares Alec would comfort you. Everyone didn’t know that while you changed Alec took your senses away so you wouldn’t feel a thing because he couldn’t bare to think of you getting hurt. Everyone didn’t know that every Friday Alec would have flowers delivered for you just because. Everyone didn’t know that Alec let you keep your stuffed bear Mr.Cuddlesworth on the bed even though it kind of freaked him out. Everyone didn’t know Alec would leave you sweet notes in the morning on post-its on the door. Everyone didn’t know that Alec would make silly home videos with you at 3 am. Everyone didn’t know Alec would kiss you mid-sentence and make butterflies erupt in your stomach. Everyone didn’t know Alec would always hold your hand in public when he wasn’t working. Everyone didn’t know Alec noticed any little changes you made such as your eye-shadow or hairstyle. Everyone didn’t know that Alec would run his fingers through your hair and kiss you out of nowhere to make you feel special because everyone didn’t know Alec like you did. Everyone didn’t know Alec as you knew him, because Alec is your mate and that side of him was reserved for you and his sister. Everyone just didn’t know Alec. 

Everyone didn’t know Jane would plan days out (or in) for the two of you when she knew Alec would be working late. Everyone didn’t know that Jane would spend at least four days every year making you a photo album of all your favourite pictures. Everyone didn’t know that Jane loved to dance around crazily in her bedroom to Katy Perry and Taylor Swift. Everyone didn’t know that Jane would always call never text. Everyone didn’t know that Jane always found some way to make your birthday special. Everyone didn’t know that Jane would attend karaoke with you every Thursday night as diligently others went to church. Everyone didn’t know that Jane trusted you with her secrets. Everyone didn’t know Jane kept your secrets. Everyone didn’t know that Jane never asked for any of the money you borrowed back. Everyone didn’t know that Jane could list off all your favourite things, likes and dislikes as if they were her own. Everyone didn’t know that while you were still human and got sick Jane would look after you. Everyone didn’t know that Jane made you friendship bracelets. Everyone didn’t know that when you were upset, if Alec wasn’t the one cheering you up Jane was because everyone didn’t know Jane like you did. Everyone didn’t know Jane as you knew her because Jane was your best friend and that side of her was reserved for you and her brother. Everyone just didn’t know Jane. 

So yes they are dangerous, yes they are terrifying, yes they do do horrible, evil, unspeakable things. But there was no way in hell you were going to stay as far away from them as everyone suggested because they were your best friends, your soul mates, your family and you loved them. No matter what.

If you’re human expect even more trouble from them both – why should they value a human life? You’re fragile and pathetic and difficult to care for and god does he love you

Did I mention Jane is NOT happy

Alec becomes a whole new person in the space of…a few months (he’s been through a lot our boyo needs time)

He’s cautious with you at first, very cautious, human or vampire it doesn’t matter. He’s made friends over the centuries, sure, but he’s only ever let Jane in beyond the surface and here you are, worming your way into his stone-dead heart and how dare you

Alec reveres his quiet time so he is in no way a clingy mate, often in the evenings he’d leave you be when you first came to Volterra but as time moves on he becomes accustomed to sharing his space while doing something entirely separate from you, for example he will read on the chaise while you write at the desk or practice his music while you try to learn more Italian

Alec isn’t really sure what to do with you, he had never courted anyone while he was human, nor was anyone interested in arranging a marriage between him and some local village girl in want of a husband to provide for her, romance never really crossed his mind when he was focused on staying alive

If you want this to go anywhere romantically you have to take the lead until he gets the hang of it (and gets some advice from Felix and Demetri) once you have established your relationship with him though this boy is so sweet!

Prefers to handmake gifts for you over buying you things, though he does a mixture of both almost every time he leaves on a mission – forcing Jane to shop with him for either gift supplies or the gift itself was one way he slowly won her over about you               + Unbeknownst to Alec, his face lights up whenever he talks about you and the pure joy that radiates from him at the mere mention of your name was something Jane wanted to preserve

One of your favourite things to do with him is to walk through the gardens hand in hand. Aro keeps the garden in top nick but the flowers change on an almost yearly basis so you have a scrapbook filled with your favourite blooms pressed between the pages

Once Alec has plucked up the courage to be a bit more physical with his affection expect to often find yourself wrapped in his embrace. He’s fairly reserved with PDA, but you can expect him to squeeze your hand, brush his fingers along your arm, just small touches to greet you or offer you some form of comfort when you’re out in public together            + In private Alec very much likes to sit with you in his arms some nights, neither of you doing anything other than enjoying each other’s presence with the occasional kiss to your shoulder, neck, hair…

Alec has a lot of serious duties so it’s important to him you be patient with him, let him fulfil them and when they become too much, let him vent about them to – you can expect the same in turn

He’s worried his gift and reputation scares you, even years into the relationship he’s still uncertain how you perceive him sometimes (poor insecure baby) so you have to make sure to bestow lots of extra kisses and cuddles on days he’s extra quiet and a bit distant, this is usually in the Spring months as he and Jane were burned in the spring              + Alec telling you of his human life was a monumental step forward in your relationship, the final indicator he had fully decided to trust you with all he was                         + Jane was furious when she found out he’d told you their shared, private business, but very quickly changed her mind when it was you and not her that ended up the most upset when she brought it up again

Alec is always trying to set up little situations to push you and his sister together so you bond a little more – both you and Jane have resisted the idea of a girls night in religiously out of fear the other will say no last minute

Alec is not the easiest to love, but with a little time and patience this sweet soft boy will open up, and he’ll pluck the stars from the sky if you ask him to
