Researchers from Skoltech, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, and Uppsala University have predicted the existence of antichiral ferromagnetism, a nontrivial property of some magnetic crystals that opens the door to a variety of new magnetic phenomena. The paper was published in the journal Physical Review B.
Chirality, or handedness, is an extremely important fundamental property of objects in many fields of physics, mathematics, chemistry and biology; a chiral object cannot be superimposed on its mirror image in any way. The simplest chiral objects are human hands, hence the term itself. The opposite of chiral is achiral: a circle or a square are simple achiral objects.
Chirality can be applied to much more complex entities; for instance, competing internal interactions in a magnetic system can lead to the appearance of periodic magnetic textures in the structure that differ from their mirror images—this is called chiral ferromagnetic ordering. Chiral crystals are widely considered promising candidates for magnetic data storage and processing device realization as information can be encoded via their nontrivial magnetic textures.

Did his bros ever manage to get Screamer to get some sleep? Did they have to bribe him with something? Or practically hold him down until he gave in?
I don't think they were successful, Starscream mainly sleeps at his desk (unintentionally).
Ah, but what the heck, I can force Starscream to go to bed with his trine uwu ✨

this is going to be such a happy reunion🥰🥰🥰

Hi, huge fan of the Subject C verse. I still haven’t played the game because of time and money reasons, but have absorbed knowledge from fic. But imagine this: an AU where Genesis becomes Aerith’s mentor/older brother figure, and she becomes one of the most powerful and terrifying mages ever.
Just:
Genesis: I’ve only known Aerith for a day and a half, *looks directly at Hojo* but if anything happened to her I would kill everyone in this room and then myself.
Thank you! I’m glad you like SSC. Now, I know this has been sitting in my drafts for months, but here:
The trio plays The First Soldier as a party. Sephiroth would shoot Genesis just because (??)
The story and science behind one of the most important materials in modern electronics. What makes ITO essential? How does it get its unique properties? In what applications is it commonly used?
ok but seriously.
Why does sexism exist?
What male just woke up one morning and decided, “I’m gonna go hate on women for no reason at all and somehow get the entire rest of the male population to go along with it.”
Like seriously wth
Sigh.
The reusable cloth masks people have been using for the past year or more may look a little worse for the wear. But new research from the University of Colorado Boulder finds that washing and drying them doesn’t reduce their ability to filter out viral particles.
“It’s good news for sustainability,” said lead author Marina Vance, assistant professor in the Paul M. Rady Department of Mechanical Engineering. “That cotton mask that you have been washing, drying and reusing? It’s probably still fine—don’t throw it away.”
The study, published in the journal Aerosol and Air Quality Research, also confirms previous research that layering a cotton mask on top of a surgical mask—properly fit on one’s face—provides more protection than cloth alone.
Science for sustainability
Since the start of the pandemic, an estimated 7,200 tons of medical waste has been generated every day—much of which is disposable masks.

Technology paves way for intelligent solar cells, other highly efficient devices programmed at the macro and nano scale.
Researchers at Tufts University School of Engineering have created light-activated composite devices able to execute precise, visible movements and form complex three-dimensional shapes without the need for wires or other actuating materials or energy sources. The design combines programmable photonic crystals with an elastomeric composite that can be engineered at the macro and nano scale to respond to illumination.
The research provides new avenues for the development of smart light-driven systems such as high-efficiency, self-aligning solar cells that automatically follow the sun’s direction and angle of light, light-actuated microfluidic valves or soft robots that move with light on demand. A “photonic sunflower,” whose petals curl towards and away from illumination and which tracks the path and angle of the light, demonstrates the technology in a paper that appears today (March 12th, 2021) in Nature Communications.
