Can I pls have some more proof? I agree so much about the Internet war thing!!

Hmm… let’s see… JongTae were always close. They were practically friends even before debut - they used to practice and walk home together and Jonghyun was always protective of Taemin since then. You might have heard of this already but once they were practising till late and Jonghyun called a cab for Taemin to take home and he even took a picture of the licence plate just in case. They would also stop at the market on their way home and eat out together. They would also sleep in the same bed together and use each other’s arms as pillows. JongTae moments existed even before they debuted and there were there since the beginning, but somehow 2min and JongKey kind of overpowered them at first. For example, there’s this overused gif set of 2min sleeping together in Hello Baby - but JongTae slept together in Hello Baby as well. They cuddled together and Jonghyun even pulled Taemin closer to him. So yeah, somehow they weren’t noticed until the Internet War thing happened. I noticed them way before that though.

The thing that suggests they’re closer than just friends are their dynamics. I’m sure shawols would have noticed, but Taemin is pampered by practically every member except for Jonghyun.

Jonghyun never really spoiled or pampered Taemin. He treated him like a baby sometimes, yes, and he often teased or playfully mocked him, but he never allowed Taemin to wrap him around his little finger like he did with the other members (because let’s face it: Taemin is an evil brat just like the rest of SM maknaes lol). Also, whilst all members seemingly wrapped Taemin up in cotton wool and treated him with utmost care, Jonghyun was always rough with him even though he obviously cares about Taemin a lot.

What I mean is, he’s not afraid to treat Taemin like his peer - they often fight, hit, and bite each other playfully. The other members would probably rather bite their own hands off than raise their finger against their maknae but Jonghyun actually left a bruise on his arm once when he bit him too hard (playfully, of course) and it just shows that he treats Taemin as his equal.

Something about how they function together is simply fascinating. It’s a constant pull-and-push and Taemin is also not afraid to hit him back - he did quite a few times (and this is really unusual, mind you, as in Korea you absolutely need to respect people older than you, but Taemin doesn’t always pay that respect to Jonghyun… and Jonghyun lets him):

So yeah, their relationship is quite unusual but also fascinating. Jonghyun also always mentions Taemin and Taemin always looks up to Jonghyun and strives to be a great singer like him. Also, have you noticed how lately Jonghyun has been rubbing off on Taemin? Sometimes, Taemin says or does things that you would normally expect from Jonghyun. Like on the WGM preview (I don’t know whether you watch WGM or not) Taemin walked, or more like skipped, across the road in Japan wearing a horse mask… and who’s known for wearing animal masks in public?

Jonghyun, of course.

Idk they have so many areas where they complement each other… they definitely have some kind of chemistry. They’re definitely good friends. Oh, and that reminds me of something… they fight. They said a few times themselves that they sometimes fight so much that Jonghyun wants to tell Taemin to “stop talking to me” however, considering that they always looked close, suggests that even though they may fight sometimes, they still always make up.

What about MinKey though? When those two fought, they were awkward together for TWO years! Also, when Onew fought with some member (no one knows which but it’s obvious that he fought with someone) he also distanced himself from the group for quite a while last year. But fighting is obviously not a problem for JongTae.

That’s OK because sometimes it’s healthy to fight once in a while.

Lastly, Taemin doesn’t actually sleep at the dorm that often if SHINee’s not performing - he even lies about where he sleeps. The only reason we know this is because Jonghyun actually wrote Taemin a message on a radio show last year pleading him to come back home more often because he’s lonely without him (they share a room together) and this year as well, he repeated practically the same thing.

Idk if that’s something I would ask of a friend. If I lived with five female friends as an adult and I had to share a room with one, I would be more than happy to be on my own - privacy and everything. What’s more, there would be three other friends at the dorm so why would I be lonely…?

Jonghyun certainly makes me question a few things. Also, I think that this Internet War, although it was just a series of performances, changed something within the group as well as it changed something between JongTae. 2min and JongKey were always the canon ships, but ever since Internet War, there was suddenly an outbreak of JongTae and MinKey that couldn’t go unnoticed.

Suddenly, JongTae and MinKey are the current trending OTPs and it started with Internet War. If Internet War was just a series of performances, why has MinKey kind of stuck together all of the sudden? Those series of performances didn’t only change JongTae - it also changed other OTPs.

Well, that’s all the “proof” I can think of right now, but like I said, I rather stay realistic ;) those are the main reasons why I ship JongTae so much though.
