god i think making matsuda hate near is one of the best and most devastating things they ever did in the epilogue/future oneshots… like,, he continues to care so deeply about light that he’s still taking on his enemies, as if defending him were even possibly an option anymore. And of course he’ll deny that hes doing it but he knows really.
