Dr James Barry, The First Doctor To Perform A Successful C Section Wherein Both Mother And Child Survived,

Dr James Barry, the first doctor to perform a successful C section wherein both mother and child survived, was a huge champion of handwashing at a time when most doctors didn’t wash their hands. For this reason, many of the chilldbirths he delivered resulted in healthier babies and mothers. He was also a gay trans man, who specifically wrote that upon his death he wished for his body to be taken in its nightshirt, wrapped in his sheets as a shroud, and placed into the coffin so that nobody would see his body. His wishes were not respected, and as a result he was outed at his death.

Can Americans please not bring Irish Gaelic names into white names discourse?

Irish is the native language of Irish people. It’s an ancient language that is on the brink of extinction as a direct result of colonialism and cultural and physical genocide.

Names like Saoirse (freedom), Áine (radiant), Aoife (beautiful) etc are traditional Irish names. They’re spelt “funny” because Irish is a different language from English, and has some sounds that aren’t found in the English language.

It’s not the same thing as edgy white Americans naming their kid Kathylyn instead of Kathleen to try to be different

Look out! Transphobes are now using the term TEHM (Trans Exclusionary Homosexual Man). From what I’ve seen they primarily target trans women just like TERFS and hang in the same circles as them. Stay safe and avoid anyone you see using that term!

The ShotBlocker

I’m a trypanophobic, meaning I am afraid of needles. My phobia has caused me to put off or completely avoid injections out of fear. However, recently I found something that helps immensely, the ShotBlocker, by Bionix.

The ShotBlocker

From Bionix’s website,

’Bionix ShotBlocker® is an innovative device that instantly alleviates the pain and anxiety of needle injections. ShotBlocker® works through a novel application of the gate control theory of pain management. It is a plastic, C-shaped device with small bumps on its back. When pressed firmly against the skin at the injection site, ShotBlocker® saturates the sensory nerves and distracts the patient from pain signals caused by the needle poke. The device is both simple and easy to use, bringing comfort to users of all ages.’

The bumps aren’t sharp. Here’s a picture of my hand after I pressed the ShotBlocker to it:

Here’s a picture of the instructions that come with it:

The ShotBlocker

My doctor had no problems administering the shot, and I felt no pain. I don’t mean that as in ‘just a small sting’, I mean that the needle felt just like one of the plastic nubs. Absolutely no pain at all. I was stunned.

Of course, it doesn’t get rid of the anxiety/dizziness/nausea that I get during injections. But with time, I think I’ll be able to train myself out of that.

You can buy them on Bionix’s website for 5.99 USD, I think I got mine from Amazon for a few cents less. They’re reusable and relatively inexpensive. I’d recommend them to anyone.

“Women” and “People who can become Pregnant” are not synonyms

image

Not all women can become pregnant. Not everyone who can become pregnant is a woman.

It is important for us to use accurate and specific language when talking about important issues, because we always want to include everyone who is impacted by an issue. Exclusion and erasure are forms of oppression.

Hey y’all,

PSA:

I know you want people to support things but,

These “like if you don’t” and “reblog if you do” posts need to be stopped or the “Dont scroll past or your a bad person” or anything like it these are extremely extra mean to people with anxiety. These causes them to spiral and hate on themselves or this causes panic attacks. So these actually need to stop,in fact some of these are triggers to people. So stop and just make the post stating on the point and let people reblog on their own time and not your time.

Also some people support the quote being said but find them to be annoying so,please stop doing this.

These are actual guilt tripping posts and it’s really bad to do this.

Has anyone been getting these type of messages lately?

So I woke up to see this message on tumblr...

Has Anyone Been Getting These Type Of Messages Lately?

So my curious ass decided to respond. And I got this answer.

Has Anyone Been Getting These Type Of Messages Lately?

So I'm still weary of this person, so I didn't really respond in my usual energetic self.

So I responded to them [again]

Has Anyone Been Getting These Type Of Messages Lately?

So this bitch talks about her 'ex' and I'm like: 👁👄👁

Has Anyone Been Getting These Type Of Messages Lately?

Now this was the question that got me suspicious even more

[Don't @ me i was trying to make up some dumb excuse]

Has Anyone Been Getting These Type Of Messages Lately?

Even though that is sus, I responded.

Has Anyone Been Getting These Type Of Messages Lately?

This is what made me block them.

So I asked @mobihyuki if anything similar happened to her and turns out she did.

I'll leave the rest to her but anyone please be aware if someone suspicious slides into your dms
