Neurodivergent Johnny Cage headcanons and theory

Neurodivergent Johnny Cage Headcanons And Theory

Hear me out, since there's a lot of people who don't like him.

I'm going to headcanon Johnny on the spectrum.

I believe Johnny was fully aware of what was going on around him regarding the tournament, but his upbeat personality is either a coping mechanism or is just his way of communicating. I genuinely think the guy likes thinking positively but he's surrounded by negativity (for obvious reasons). I'm pretty sure he stumbled into the tournament thinking it's a fight where people are dressed up for comic con related reasons and then got roped into what was actually happening and was like "Welp, I guess I'm doing this now." I don't think he was prepared to be dealing with people who could get easily angered.

However, he sometimes shows the inability to read the room and accidentally says something offensive. Or somehow offends people even though he means no harm. I'm sure his intentions are simply to be fun and playful, even towards his enemies, and I think that's beautiful.

Something I found out is an neurodivergent trait is being sarcastic but everyone thinks you're being 100% serious. I tend to joke a lot but people think I'm being literal even though I made my voice and tone sound playful. I also think his ego is just him being confident. If it is vanity then it's giving popular girl vibes, and I think that's lovely. I think future Johnny's dislike towards his younger self is actually a form of self loathing because of learning what's okay and not okay overtime. The other side is due to the influence of others, since they have a lot of negative things to say about him and to him.

It's quite obvious that compared to everyone else he's not very good at socialising. Something his older self learns to be better at, but his difference in communication still shows. He's still the same Johnny, just a lot more restraint and responsibility.

Showing interest in creative related stuff, such as acting. That counts as a check, right? Speaking as a person who was interested in theatre.

Lack of interest in training? Could be the need to procrastinate until he's very close to the due date. Like chronic procrastination. We learn about Johnny's lack of training through his intro with Raiden.

Also, is bro not allowed to show that he finds someone attractive or interested in them? Dudes being straight up honest about how he feels.

"We come from different worlds, Johnny." - Liu Kang

"Aren't you from Earthrealm, too?" - Johnny

"I mean I come from the real world." - Liu Kang

The sense of otherness and the random bullying.

"Why wasn't I your chosen one?" - Johnny

"Do you have all day, Johnny Cage?" - Raiden

"Yeah. I do." - Johnny

I feel you Johnny. That sense of exclusion.

"Stop reaching for my hat, Johnny." - Kung Lao

"You hiding a rabbit in there or not?" - Johnny

"Only my friends know for sure." - Kung Lao

Difficulties with social boundaries

Conversational self restraint problems

Unpopular opinion, I guess

As a kid (6-7) I used to believe that Stella was latina and Flora was either light skinned or mix-raised. So when Aisha/Layla came along I thought there were two black girls in the group.

MKX's Kung Lao an essay

MKX's Kung Lao An Essay

Notes: I originally wrote this in youtube comment section and decided to post it here. Watch Cynical Warlock's Rewriting Kung Lao video, its super interesting.

Kung Lao seemed pretty badass in MKX, and I'm talking about the old man version that's not seen in the storymode. I first interpreted MKX version of Lao appeared more humble and secure, no longer needing to prove himself as Liu Kang's equal. He even gave me the impression that he could be a mentor figure, appearance wise, whereas Old Liu Kang didn't give me that same vibe. Also, Kung Lao has a special hat that he uses as a weapon... How does he not outshine Liu Kang?

We do see his hat origin in MK1, so we can assume that it's similar to the past timelines on why he uses it. With that being said, he's great at coming up with random weapons, and very effective ones too. In another timeline he might be a weapons specialist, maybe even a maker. He even has another version of the hat that looks like daggers have been glued onto it, which we see in the game (I think it was a variant), and that might have been his first hat before he made a perfected version.

I think if MKX had better writing, then Kung Lao could've been brought back from the dead (like Sub Zero, Scorpion & Jax) and become another mentor figure to the combat kids instead of just being another yes man revenant who obey's revenant Liu Kang.

Both Liu Kang and Kung Lao were playable in MKX, they could've at least brought one of them back. Since they made Liu Kang king of the Neatherrealm, it would have to be Kung Lao.

Just as Sub Zero has a sort of friendship with Johnny, Kung Lao could be the same, separating him from Liu Kang on who they keep close to them. Personality wise, he's less harsh and strict than Liu Kang, and is more friendly, so I can picture him and Johnny having a friendship.

He can teach the combat kids that weapons can be formed from anything, basically ensuring that no one becomes a copy paste of their parents (Cassie & Jacqui), and has something unique about them, like having knives in their shoes and doing capoeira to cut the opponent or something (idk).

Just like Johnny, he isn't treated or spoken to very nicely by Sonya and some others because they keep mistaking his current self to his past self. He doesn't like it when people do this (I certainly wouldn't), but he is mostly civil with cutting remarks every now and then. Think of it as visiting a toxic family you've been in low contact with, and they occasionally make jokes and jabs about you copying your golden child sibling, and how you'll never be like them or escape their shadow. Even though you stand up for yourself, you're still seen as being bitter and jealous.

Another reason why I think Johnny and Kung Lao have a shot at friendship is because Johnny doesn't mention Liu Kang once, or anything linked to the past, or even his personality. Kung Lao is also said to "smile too much" according to Ferra, meaning he has a tendency to smile when he's about to face off with an opponent. Remind you of someone we know?

Here's how he can be introduced: The combat kids have a mission, however, the combat kids cannot go with weapons, at least weapons that are seen. In this au Johnny is with the Wu Shi instead of the Special Forces (as seen in my Havik post), so he sends the combat kids (mainly Cassie and Jacqui) to meet Kung Lao. The combat kids find out that Kung Lao, while still maintaining his teachings, has left the Shaolin and works as a weapons maker in some random town or city in China, and lives in solitude (a metaphor for no longer seeking the validation of others). Instead of giving the weapons straight up, he tests every single one of them. He ends up letting them have the weapons of course, and watches them go on their day.

MK11 made him so cocky to the point he was a Johnny Cage clone, and Kung Lao never struck me as the cocky type during MK9. It was actually Liu Kang that came off as egotistical to me, and the fact that he rebels against Raiden kind of proves that. Liu Kang went against a literal god. There's even an ending that shows he will be corrupt if he replaced Raiden. Earthrealm's champion, ladies and gentlemen.

I never viewed Kung Lao as cocky, so his MK11 version was a complete 180, and the fact that NRS continued that into MK1 disappointed me. Kung Lao is impulsive, but not always. He is capable of being reserved and calculating. While Kung Lao is also quite ruthless, Liu Kang is the hot headed one that refuses to listen to reason at times.

People make all kinds of jokes about Kung Lao and him getting his neck snapped, when Shao Kahn went about it cowardly. I'll elaborate by saying Shao Kahn snuck up on him, it wasn't face to face. In the words of Kendrick Lamar, "when I catch flight, it's gon' be direct". Shao Kahn is Drake in this situation, sneak dissing. When people make fun of Kung Lao's neck snap they're technically meat riding Shao Kahn.

I feel like the Sindel retcon has a lot of unfortunate implications. From the hypersexual personality (because evil = sexual) to the idea that because she looked evil she had to be evil to just turning a victim of abuse and colonization into a monster. I get wanting to show flaws in heroes but this wasn't what they did. And I feel like most of the defense of it is just people finding new Sindel hot.

I agree. To be honest, the reason why I always saw her as an evil character even with the context of the mind control is because of her white eyes and overall scary appearance in contrast to Kitana's more (arguably) soft appearance.

I did find it stupid when they retconned their character, but I didn't care much. After watching some ai generated intros where Sindel is good, I gotta say, I like good SIndel. It is bizarre that anyone would find her hot considering that she now canonically does slavery, which just makes my blood boil. They did ruin her character, and even though I wasn't apart of the mk fandom during the 2000s, I miss good Sindel.

One-sided Homelander x Alien reader

So this was based on a story written by @operation-619, while it was cool to read I was a little disappointed. Not at the story itself but kind of at the character/reader that she wrote out. This isn't to say what she wrote was terrible but... I honestly wanted more of something. I suggest you read that story though, it's Homelander x reader if my memory is correct. It is a recent post if my memory is correct so it shouldn't be hard to find. To be fair, my story isn't so good I just wanted a chaotic reader I guess.

If anyone's wondering I took inspiration from JJBA, HxH, and Invincible. Apologies about the lack of dialogue and the amount of description and expedition. It was just things I was looking forward to seeing in the story. No, the reader doesn't have the same powers as Homelander... well she can't fly, I thought the scenario of reader having the exact same powers would be boring.

I was thinking of a black reader but then I wondered about readers who aren't black and just put foreign reader.

When you came down to Earth you weren't really sure what to expect other than the stories that were given by your elders, passed down to generations whether you were a student, a neighbour, or a family member. The humans were not animals so you couldn't contemplate eating anyone.

It was easy to adapt, quickly learning languages just by hearing a few sentences, growing accustomed to the environment. You received strange looks, specifically being stared at every 5 minutes. (Think 80s Chisato Moritaka).

The technology was different, used in a way that you weren't familiar with. The clothes were kind of similar, but the materials were easy to tear apart so you stuck to your own clothes. Your spaceship was surprisingly hard to hide, it was easy to access since you accidentally disabled the lock. You didn't ask your parents for help out of fear of them giving you an earful about being irresponsible.

Everyone you came across was like an ant, the supes were spiders. The funny thing about ants is that you have to scrape them to kill them properly, many underestimate how strong they are. Simply stepping on them isn't enough, and yet you find yourself saving them. So often that you were being recorded, the kids that lived near flung to you, asking all sorts of questions. Taking pictures where you flexed your muscles at the camera. While they were not sure whether or not they should take you seriously whenever you spoke about your planet and wore your strange clothes, it felt good to be around these humans.

On your planet you are a mere child with centuries to learn. Having a desire to impress your parents, entering competitions to show how capable you are. But you were young and very easy to take down, so you spend most of your teenage-hood exploring different planets.

Everyone on your planet has the same trait: Speed, strength, and then one ability that defines you from everyone else. For you it was your hair, it seemed to have a mind of its own at times. It would be short one second and then overwhelmingly long the next. If you braided it then it would become snake-like. Your hair was strong enough to break buildings and there were a lot of occasions where you used it to fly. You mastered the art of learning how to detangle each strand so you never worried about getting them stuck.

One-sided Homelander X Alien Reader

You and your people were powerful, and still found the need to improve themselves, however. Testing each other's might, and fighting was simply a game. Evil was rare, an action that happened but wasn't so recent. Bruises weren't new and they would go away before you knew it. But it wasn't the same for these humans.

There was so much otherness. The bad kind. Robberies, murders and the like, it was almost vomit worthy but you stayed. Curious to see what else you would find on this problematic planet.

That's when Vought approached you, introducing you to the 7. They told you how "superheroes should stick together", and how "you will fit so well here". Your costume, while perplexing to some was everything to you. You remembered when you were at the fitting and threw a tantrum at the bikini the costume department prepared for you. If your mother ever caught wind of you in such a thing you wouldn't be allowed to travel to any planet ever again, so you stuck to your battle suit. (minus the jewellery)

One-sided Homelander X Alien Reader

Since then you were given the name Mighty Ase (pronounced ah-she), an old Norse name meaning 'god-like' or 'goddess'. Everyone knew your real name thanks to the teenagers that took pictures with you so you didn't understand the whole alias thing. Why were the 7 ashamed of letting people know who they were yet were okay with everyone knowing their face? Again, another Earth concept you didn't understand but would in time.

Overall, you completed tasks to save people, stop crime and protect the good side of humanity. You would visit children, be a mascot at charities, and you never had a problem with anyone. Everyone was happy. It was exciting... sort of.

A-Train: Fast but you knew your sister was much faster. Speed was nothing new and you genuinely wondered why that was anything special. The way he handled people reminded you of that time you accidentally killed a poor dog while petting it, the difference is that he wasn't so caring.

Starlight: Good as she is beautiful. Her presence was mostly honest and you couldn't help but admire her kindness and passion to do the right things. You didn't sense anything off about her, when she was upset then you were upset, knowing it was for the right reasons. She only told you why sometimes but whatever battle she was fighting wasn't for you to get involved in. You were still new and she didn't want to scare you or put you on edge just yet.

Queen Maeve: Older women in general set you on edge so you avoided talking to her. She was alright, but if you were bullet proof then so was everyone on your planet. She also gave you off vibes.

Deep Sea: Could he really talk to fish? You had the appetite for jellyfish and wondered if he could snag you some but he would never be up for it. It was safe to say that he didn't like you.

Black Noir: Quiet. Boring. You've seen children with better stealth.

Stormfront: You sensed dislike. A strong dislike that was almost unimaginable. Hate? Is that what that is? But why? You didn't do anything to her, but it was safe to say the feeling was mutual. If things got worse you could always consider eating her and being done with it. Besides that, a little lightning never hurt. You recall being struck a few times in your younger days, your father's training.

Homelander: In human years he was old enough to be your father's age. While his laser beams were impressive he used it too often, and even you knew such laziness was not to be tolerated. You remembered when the school bully lasered your arm, it took 2 months to heal. After 10 decades they weren't as effective and you grew strong enough to catch those lasers. How bothersome to be reminded of her of all people. When you met Homelander there may have been two things you did wrong. Since he was a supe you believed you didn't have to hold back when you both shook hands, you greeted him as you would anyone else. There was something wrong with this, yet he was super nice to you, and you guessed that it had to do with the fact that he must've known you were a teenager. Babying you and offering to take you to places, which you did enjoy most of the time but also dismissed to do other things. You sensed tension between him and Starlight though, so you kept your distance.

Homelander would find any way to grow close to you. To impress you. You pretended not to mind him but the way he handled things is similar to that of a sloppy child that tried to assure everyone that it knew what it was doing. The way he held himself was like an actor playing a character for the screen. Even his smile was strange. Perhaps you were so used to honesty that you couldn't calculate if someone was lying.

Not to slander them but there was something wrong that you weren't getting. Things were not adding up, and finally you went on the internet. You decided to use the primitive phones to do something other than calling for once. Once you gathered everything you confronted Starlight, that's when she told you everything.

You were oblivious. Vought took extra precautions to make sure you didn't discover the facade. You didn't watch the news and it was clear that they used that to their advantage. You were a great asset, if anything potentially happened to Homelander then you would replace him. You were great with people, were nice to the employees, and you never bothered anyone or made things hard.

Except you did.

You knelt down to the body of Stormfront, your fellow 7. Formerly. You licked the blood off your bloody hands and spat it out, taking a careful inspection at your sharp nails that grew from the bloodlust. From your peripheral vision you could make out Kimiko approaching you hesitantly.

You ignored her, your hair poking at the body. You strangely didn't feel sad, you were glad. You felt justice- no, it felt like a justifiable thing to do. This is how it's done on your home planet. Take the trouble maker, then exterminate.

"Sorry for intruding. Kimiko, was it?" you said, standing up straight and holding your hand out to her. "I heard you were a friend of Annie, I was wondering if I could help. Don't worry about the damage, my people will have it sorted out."

You'll also sort out Vought.

Here are some random comments I found on YouTube and TikTok. Apply them to the correct characters. The last one is a cooking tutorial. I can imagine them having a conversation. The last one screams Kombat kids though.

I love how Terry didn't look the least bit offended when Kenny flipped the bird at him.

A part of me likes to believe he sort of saw Kenny as a surrogate son, or at least could've been. I always saw Terry as Kenny's Miyagi, and I can picture Kenny (when Dallas was still small) following Terry around. Terry (though manipulative) is more soft and sympathetic than Kreese was. Terry was probably the 'nicer' one.

Yes, Robby trained Kenny most of the time with the addition of Tory, but I'm pretty sure he was more of a brotherly figure. Terry had the mentor title because not only was he much older, but he could teach things Robby didn't know.

Like, Daniel was someone to torment, whereas Kenny's mentorship was genuine. There was a bond forming between them. Edit: Kenny and Daniel both have big brown eyes. Makes me wonder, if Daniel wasn't an enemy, would Terry have treated Daniel like he treated Kenny? Even with the coke in his system?

When Kenny flips the bird it's like seeing your child be rebellious, and while you could get mad, it's also adorable. No matter what, you'll remember them for the little kid they once were. Regardless of whether or not their anger is valid, that's your little boy/girl.

He didn't look disappointed or angered, it was more like a 'well, damn'.

Daniel was never the 'Real' villain

I posted this on a YouTube comment section, but here.

Bro, Ali did not want to talk to Johnny, and Johnny was pushing it. He was being hella aggressive about it, Daniel was just returning his energy. The worst Daniel did was spray some water on Johnny, AFTER Johnny and the other Cobra kids shoved Daniel down a hill on his scooter, just because Daniel wanted to learn self defence after he realised he's attending school with the same people who humiliated him and beat him up. Guess what, they humiliated him again at the football tryouts thing, and Daniel wasn't even doing anything to them. As the movie goes on it becomes less about Ali, and more about Daniel, because it's clear the Cobra's enjoy bothering Daniel. I know Daniel isn't perfect, sometimes antagonising them, but only verbal and nothing too excessive, like pushing them down a hill in the middle of the night.I personally think Cobra Kai is an out of character take on the Karate Kid series. They made Johnny an idiot, even though we know from the first Karate Kid film that he's pretty intelligent. Miyagi was also a father figure to Daniel, but they over did it in Cobra Kai. Kreese and Terry Silver are the real villains, two grown adults who couldn't get over a Karate tournament.

They legit gave Daniel trust issues with the Terry thing. Also, didn't Terry break into the Miyagi house?
