On one hand, I wasn’t thrilled with Emma’s ending because it made it seemed like she never really loved Cnut but instead loved the power he gave her (maybe I’m interpreting it wrong though since I binge watched it back to back right after pulling an all-nighter. Loved to hear your thoughts on it). On the other, Harefoot was freaking gorgeous and was completely on board with Emma (much to Godwin’s anger) and they would make a smoking couple. Honestly after being married so young to her first husband who was so much older, Emma has earned the right to go full MILF and manipulate her step-son. Plus, ignoring history, she could use her power over him to her advantage to get him to name of her son’s his heir until he has a child of his own

alright i gotta be honest with you, i really loved emma's ending though! as much as she enjoyed the fact that cnut gave her power, she genuinely did love him. these two aspects of her character can co-exist! i actually cried when he told her that she brought him joy, and she replied that he brought her joy as well...

also, making two funerals (the first one being the official christian burial and the second one a viking funeral only attended by his viking warriors) for cnut just shows how much she cherished him by honoring his viking legacy and his place as england's first viking king.

but she, of course, moved on because she's an emotionally powerful, independent force of a woman. and seeing her pulling up her cunning game on harefoot was so on-brand of her!! godwin tried to get her sidelined but she's about to keep her position by using harefoot's emotions and potential feelings for her so she can't be seized, and i respect that.

i'm sure even godwin respects her hustle as well at this point because, if anything, both emma and godwin share those manipulative and intelligent braincells as they read each other's minds while trying to outwit each other lol. anyway, great show, amazing characters, phenomenal dynamics and hot people. 10/10 no notes <3
