This has probably been said before but I have to voice my thoughts. I keep thinking about the way Diana calls Natalie ‘a perfect plan’. And THEN later in the show she admits to having Natalie to replace Gabriel. LIKE WHERE ARE WE RIGHT NOW. By referring to Natalie as a perfect plan she is directly referencing to the fact that Gabe was an accident baby. They quite literally tell the audience that Gabe was unplanned, and that led to Dan and Diana getting married. So by having Natalie they are planning to be better parents to her than they were to Gabe (not that they weren’t good parents to Gabe when he was an infant). But like, it backfires BECAUSE they planned to have her. Diana relapses back into her grief for Gabe and the plan starts to crumble. It no longer becomes the perfect plan, because Diana is not perfect and neither is Dan. So essentially I am sick to my stomach, anyways bye 😘😝!!
Henry literally stepping into Dan's position. Michael Longhurst when I get you...
I think I just realized I’ve been so obsessed with the line “please hear me calling” in N2N because it’s exactly what Baby’s do when something’s wrong,
They cry and call for someone to help them
too excited not to post this SOMEWHERE. anyway they’re on the run, staying in nasty motels before they can flee the states.
my favorite hannibal bit is when will says some weird shit and everyone stares at him
"You say that you're hurting / I know it ain't so"
i've been thinking about the swap to handheld camera near the end of I am the one
i love it so much as a cinematic choice. it kinda puts us into a forced 1st person perspective, like as an audience, briefly we are in the kitchen with them, especially with caissie clocking the camera. it just really drives home how out of control she feels in this moment within her lashing out against gabe and dan
and seeing them scurry away from her from this perspective is just so emotive and i think really captures the feeling of lashing out through fear as much as anger when struggling with mental health and pushing away those who are trying trying to help
its crazy to me that they didn't use this type of shot anywhere else in the show (ifrc?) but i guess its exclusivity to this moment solidifies both the power and vulnerability to diana at this moment.
anyways im very next to normal about this show xo
I am so obsessed with next to normal!! I'm quite proud of this as I've been in bit of an art block recently! I tried getting as many song references in as possible!
it's like... there's someone there. but who is it??
the chaoticness of the choreography matching to the lyrics the cast sings here really speaks to the dancer part of my brain
gabe touches diana's hand up to her wrist because he's offering her a way to join him (by having her cut her wrists)
dan repeatedly tapping his phone at the tap to pay device while singing "and me, i'm just tired, tired, tired, tired" is such a unique modern detail that i really like
gabe's silhouette lingers behind this screen until im alive reprise to show that he's always in the back of diana's mind even if he's not present which is such a good blocking decision
dan reaching for diana while diana reaches for gabe will never not hurt
the emotional difference between henry smoking his apple while the whole goodman family goes through it downstairs during superboy and the invisible girl will always make me giggle a bit
i just love the counterbalancing diana and gabe do here. they are both on the edge and only holding on because they need each other to survive
