Arthur:

Arthur is very shy in his advances, so the most likely scenario is that you’ll have to make the first move because this poor man is just petrified at the idea of pushing you away or scaring you

He will often come to your house to hang out and watch a movie or listen to some music. Not the most entertaining of things, but any time spent with you is time well spent

His go-to on any occasion is trying to make you laugh

The most flirtatious things he’s done always happens when he’s showing you magic tricks. Whether it’s pulling out a bouquet of flowers or purposely handing you cards with hearts, this is the most hints you’ll get out of him

When you talk, his whole body literally turns and angles itself towards you, completely hooked on your every word

If you’ve had a bad day or are just feeling down and need someone to listen your problems, he’s right there for you. Will listen to you vent for hours, genuinely concerned about you and offering help in any way he can

He’s your shoulder to cry on anytime you need, because to him, showing concern and care is his way of subtly reminding you he thinks of you and your happiness

It’s not too much to make it seem obvious that he’s paying so much attention to the details, but just enough to leave you crazy, wondering if you’re just overthinking his affections or if there’s actually something going on between you two

Joker tries to impress you constantly, whether it’s luring you in with is dance moves or something more extreme like showing you his gun

Always places his hands on you to remind you of his presence. It’s always very innocent- a hand on your shoulder, holding your hand when he wants to drag you somewhere, tapping you to get your attention. If it was anyone else it wouldn’t seem like anything… but you can feel the heat and desire that comes from his touch right through your clothes

When the both of you are together, he’ll tease you non-stop. It’s never malicious, but just playful and lightly mocking enough to make you blush and pout

Only has eyes for you. You could be walking down the street together and run into a group of Joker fan girls cheering for him, and his eyes would never leave you

If you lean in to hug him when you two meet up somewhere, he’ll take your hand and kiss the back of it, eyes devilishly studying yours

One time he took it up a notch and kissed both your cheeks in greeting. When you turn red and demand an explanation, he just scoffs and goes “It’s European”

You looked at yourself in the mirror, staring at your silhouette. “What the fuck…” you whispered. You had been on a diet for over 2 weeks now, sometimes even skipping meals, without telling Arthur of course, and nothing seemed to work. You weren’t extremely overweight, but you would consider yourself chubby. No matter how many times Arthur tried to tell you that it was fine, it’s nothing to worry about, you couldn’t help but worry.

You felt your eyes burn as your tears began to fall down your cheeks. Why is this so hard? It’s so unfair.

This happened almost every night. You stood in the bathroom, door locked, analyzing your body to no end while Arthur worked his second job. You were glad he wasn’t home to listen to you cry because you often didn’t hold back. You sobbed as you squeezed your skin, a part of you hoping maybe it would magically go away, but it stayed where it was.

You wished you could be with Arthur, in his arms as he held you close, easing away the anxiety and pain the way he always could. But instead you stood there, crying.

You had no clue while you cried, that Arthur wasn’t at work, but outside the bathroom door. He had come home early and heard you crying. He had planned on surprising you. He stood with his hand on the doorknob, not moving a muscle as he listened to your cries.

“I don’t understand what he sees in me” you say out loud. You don’t even realize you’re speaking the words until it’s too late. “He will never find me beautiful. He will never love me.”

“Y/N?” Arthur spoke through the crack of the door. You jumped, turning to the door in surprise.

“Arthur? I thought you were at work, why are you home?” He didn’t respond.

“Do you really think that?” he asked. You didn’t answer. “Can I come in?” He asked. You quickly put on your sweater, and said yes.

Before a second could go by, the door flew open and there were arms around you. Arthur squeezed you tightly, his warm breath tingling your neck. Your arms slowly wrapped around him, and you could feel him relax a bit. He let go of you, taking your hand and leading you from the small bathroom to the living room. He sat you down next to him.

He took your hands into his own and looked into your eyes. Your heart ached, seeing the concern and worry clear as day on his face. “Do you think I don’t love you? That I don’t think you’re the most beautiful person I’ve ever laid eyes on?”

You breathed in heavy, the words he spoke bearing into you. You could hear the concern in his voice. “Arthur…”

“Baby I love you more than words could possibly describe.” He says, bringing your hands to his mouth, kissing them softly. “Your size doesn’t matter to me. You matter to me. All of you.”

A tear falls down your cheek. Your hand breaks free from his own and you place it on his cheek. You can feel the remnants of his own tears. “I love you too Arthur.” you said. He smiled at you and you pulled him into a soft kiss. “I’m sorry.”

“Do you do that often?” He asks, referring to the thoughts you had spoken out loud in the bathroom.

“Not every day but… often.” You looked down to your lap.

He didn’t respond, just pulling you into a tight hug. Your face fell into his chest, feeling the shallow rise and fall of his breath. He kissed your forehead. “When you... “ he started. “When you feel these things, please talk to me.”

You nodded against him. “I don’t want you to be alone with this. Not how I was.” he continued. You smiled and wrapped your arms around him tightly. He knew the pain you were going through and he wanted to make sure that you have the support he never had.

“Thank you.” you whispered. He hugged you tighter, as if he was double checking that you were there. After a moment he let go and leaned back on the couch.

“Let’s watch some Murray.” he said, pulling you into his arms. As you leaned into his side, you could tell that he was holding you extra tight. His arms felt safe, the safest place you could possibly be in a time like this. Your anxiety seemed to simmer away while his hand rubbed your shoulder. This was your favorite place to be.

The Joker fandom means a lot to me now, it has helped me make new friends so I thought maybe I’d make a discord server since Tumblr does not have a group chat feature? It could be Joaquin Phoenix in general or purely about Joker? I think it’d be cool and we could have movie nights and stuff so yup. I just want everyone’s thoughts and opinions about it.
