trying to figure out how to keep productivity moving in grad school. I’m still trying to decide if planning out my weeks like this is useful or stressful, as invariably things change. On the other hand, I’m not worried about trying to figure out when to do things when I do this.
getting back into studyblr/journal content after a long hiatus but most of the accounts i loved are inactive! please please please help a struggling gre prepper out and feed me some motivation if you're a studyblr (or mostly a studyblr) reblog this post and i'll follow you
Being a history major is you wake up, you read about the most horrifying atrocities ever committed before you finish your morning coffee, you write a 10 page research paper and forget to put a single footnote because that's a problem for tomorrow, you cry about the fact that humans have had vibrant experiences for millennia and we treasure the scattered remnants they leave behind, you catalogue 100 pages of meaningless government documents in an excel spreadsheet, and then maybe at the end of the day you get a waffle.
You are not “wasting your potential” because you took a break, or because you’re exhausted, sick or because you are struggling to find purpose. Please, take some time off, take care of yourself, listen to the needs of your body and your mind. Do the things you want to do to make you happy and fulfilled, not what others think you should, not what’s more successful in their minds. You aren’t wasting your life, nor wasting your potential. You are still deciding how to live it, what is the purpose of it, and you will find motivation to fight for what you want when you figure yourself out, but please take your time and don’t listen to the pressure of people around you to comfort to their expectations of success.

Me, most days: Astronomy is so beautiful! Science is so wonderful! I love being a human and getting to pursue my innate curiosity about the nature of the world around me! I am so lucky!
Me, the night before an exam: fuck this fuck you fuck me fuck everything I’m 24 fucking years old and I have a test tomorrow what the fuck
quick study tips now that I've almost finished my masters: follow study with me videos on youtube. download cold turkey website blocker on your laptop and liberate website blocker on your phone. chew gum while studying. play an instrument, knit/crochet, or move while on study breaks instead of going on your phone. always keep your study space clean. wear noise cancelling headphones with no music playing (that's my cue to focus). eat plenty always and bring snacks. know when to stop. learn when you focus best, and only plan to be able to work during those times- schedule errands / meetings / hobbies / rest during times when you know you won't be focused. schedule at least one full day per week where you have no responsibilities. if you're too tired to work, take a nap instead of sitting there numb and exhausted with dry eyes. you can skip class sometimes (trust me). know when "good enough" is enough (and when it's not).

Ngl I think it's strange that a lot of people IRL are so kneejerkingly terrified of being weird or even associated with being weird. I say this as someone with relatively normal fashion/speech patterns, not even as a member of a particularly crazy subculture.
