I am 1% human and 99% tired

Things going well is pretty nice and all but by god does it decimate your excuses. You'll be sleepy at work and be like "by god, I'm not even besieged by the horrors currently. I just need to go to bed earlier."

the library.

ONE: The library is simply that. The Library. It has no name - at least, not one in human tongue.

TWO: You do not find the library. The library finds you. You will see it when and if you need it, no matter what. It is open all year round, every hour of the day. It never closes. Never.

THREE: The librarian is always on duty, whether you see them or not. You may worry that they are not sleeping enough, or are not taking care of themselves. Do not. They do not need your concern.

FOUR: The library, for all intents and purposes, appears to have only two floors from the outside. Occasionally, you may hear movement in floors above and below which you cannot locate. That is okay. Those floors are simply not meant for you.

FIVE: You may borrow any books you need. Do not worry about returns - they will find their own way back.

SIX: There is no visible organisational system. Feel free to ask the librarian for help or assistance - they will point you to the right shelves, and vice versa.

SEVEN: Occasionally, you may see a book vanish before your eyes. Do not be alarmed. Something else has simply borrowed it, and it will be returned soon enough.

EIGHT: Time passes differently within the library. When you leave, do not be concerned if it is far later (or, in some cases, earlier) than it was when you came in.

NINE: Ultimately, the library is a quiet place. However, if you ever notice that even the books have stopped breathing, alert the librarian and exit as calmly and quickly as possible. They will deal with it.

All my teenage years, I had bottled up anger and grief and promised myself I'd never cry but when I sat down with her hands in my hand and looked her in the eye, all the anger turned into tears. I sobbed for hours and she sat there, rubbing my back. That's when I saw. Growing up is also tearing down walls, it's also letting go of the anger.

Okay I just wrapped up the annual Over the Garden Wall rewatch and it’s late and I don’t know how well I’ll be able to articulate these thoughts but:

The Beast knows it’s in a story

The Beast knows it’s in a story, and it knows how people react to stories, and that’s horrifying in a series based out of folklore and fairy tales and storytelling tradition. The Beast preys on people by knowing how they’ll react to stories. The Beast acts frustrated that Greg used a honey comb for a “golden comb” and a spiderweb on a stick for a “spool of silver thread,” but it’s baiting a trap - by exploiting that same fairytale logic, Greg is going to die of exposure in the cold while he waits for the sun to “set” in a cup

Because of course Greg will wait to see the sun set into the cup. Of course the Woodsman will keep the lantern lit. That’s how the story should go. The Beast is a parasite sucking blood out of a perfectly arranged Grimm fairy tale about the martyrdom of parenthood.

The only way to properly defeat it is to actively defy the story being set out ahead of you. Over the Garden Wall says, over and over again, that Wirt will sacrifice his life for Greg. “You are responsible for you and your brother’s actions,” the show says. The original pitch bible for the series said that Wirt would sacrifice himself for Greg, that he’d die to take responsibility for Greg-

And then Wirt stops and says “Wait. That’s dumb” and immediately shatters the story that’s been set up for him, and that’s how he defeats the Beast.

weed gummies are such a fake sounding concept like yeah if you eat this piece of candy and wait an hour you'll suddenly become very easily entertained and airheaded and cuddly

so was no one was gonna tell me that the painting saturn devouring his son was found painted directly onto the walls of the artist’s home after he died and that it may not even be depicting the greek legend, that’s just the most common interpretation??????

“You are a violent and irrepressible miracle. The vacuum of cosmos and the stars burning in it are afraid of you. Given enough time you would wipe us all out and replace us with nothing -- just by accident.”
