Wow, Guillermo del Toro really said You know what my animated kid's musical needs? Catholicism. War. Death. Alcoholism. Fascism. Frankensteinian undertones. A haunting meditation on mortality and grief. Cate Blanchett making monkey noises. And he was so fucking right

“humanity is inherently selfish and bad” bbbrrrghuhjfkg. humanity is seeing a stranger’s grocery bag break open on the sidewalk and harvesting fruits and veggies from the branch-like cracks of the asphalt for them, just because you can. humanity is helping a lost child find their mother on a crowded beach, looking for the ladybug-patterned parasol with their hummingbird-small hand in yours. it’s an elder’s fingers wrapped around your arm as you help them up the stairs because the elevator is broken, and feeling like you’re doing exactly what you’re supposed to be doing, like this is what you would’ve been doing had you been alive centuries or even millennia ago. there will always be a heavily pregnant woman who will smile at your when you give up your seat, a nice blind man in the fruit aisle who will ask you to please pick the riper plantain for him, a tired cashier whose face will light up when you compliment their tattoo sleeve. humanity is connection
actually can we discuss ekko and jinx narrative foils. can we discuss this
my unpopular opinion is that i hate tiktok because now people just publicly watch loud ass videos in public spaces with no regard for anyone else. 100% it was not this bad with youtube, it’s such a different thing with tiktok. put on headphones. you are grown.
There's few people on the road at this late of an hour. Some unfavorable folk may take advantage. Tired, empty eyes gloss over your silhouette. Try not to move too quickly, you'll draw their gaze.
You try to avoid stopping at all costs, you know that this land is ancient and you don't belong in this neck of the woods.
You find the restroom. You position yourself at the sink, splashing cold water onto your face. Don't look yourself in the eyes, just try to wake up.
You swear hear someone walk out behind you, but there was no reflection in the mirror. The door lightly taps shut.
You walk up to the register to prepay. There is someone there, buying coffee for five people. As they walk to their car, you see there is no one else in their cab. They've finished two of the coffees.
The cashier stares through you. You ask for twenty dollars on pump three as you hand them your card. They do not take it, they simply smile, "Payment accepted." You still cannot find what they are looking at.
There is twenty dollars on pump three. You pump gas in your car and try not to look into the now vacant parking lot. The empty space tries not to look into you as well.
As you drive away, you look in your rear view mirror. The gas station does not exist. Where have you been? Your gas tank is full.
“You are a violent and irrepressible miracle. The vacuum of cosmos and the stars burning in it are afraid of you. Given enough time you would wipe us all out and replace us with nothing -- just by accident.”
