How Did Donald Duck Influence Star Wars? And Wasn’t Indiana Jones Inspired By Scrooge, Not Donald?

how did Donald Duck influence Star Wars? And wasn’t Indiana Jones inspired by Scrooge, not Donald?

George Lucas and Steven Spielberg mentioned that they were inspired by Carl Barks' comics.

So was Osamu Tezuka, the creator of Astro Boy and "Godfather of Modern Manga."

And Donald Duck was going on adventures with his nephews in the Carl Barks comics long before Scrooge McDuck was created and this is precisely why DT17 and other media trying to give all the credit to Scrooge but forgetting that Donald was the FIRST just proves my point in my frustration with them.

Everyone just thinks it was Scrooge McDuck thanks to the later Don Rosa's work: "Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck" which was loosely based on Carl Barks' works (Don Rosa exaggerated a lot of Scrooge's abilities at the expense of Donald's).

This is why I advocate for giving credit where credit is due when it comes to canon characters and where I feel DT17 really dropped the ball. Donald was an adventurer looong before Scrooge and some of Carl Barks' best comics don't even have him:

-"Donald Duck Finds Pirate Gold" - Carl Barks first full length comic

- "Mystery of the Swamp" - Donald and nephews encounter gnomish creatures in the Everglades which some think were the inspiration for the Ewoks in Star Wars

"The Mad Chemist" (the comic credited with discovering the chemical compound methylene 20 years before it was actually studied and verified!)

-"Lost in the Andes" - Carl Barks claimed was his best work

- "The Golden Helmet" - Donald and nephews: whoever possesses the golden helmet is ruler of North America

- "The Ice Box Robber" - The comic that showcased Donald having WWII PTSD

- "Sherrif of Bullet Valley" - Donald and nephews in the Wild West

- "Dangerous Disguise" - a comic about spies where a Donald look alike commits suicide by jumping out of a window

- "Luck of the North" Donald and nephews rescue Gladstone in Alaska

"Old California" - Donald and the nephews seem to time travel to California in 1848 and they witness the family there living their lives. It turns out they were in a bad car accident and were on the hospital in a coma for weeks. But the house is still there.

"A Christmas for Shacktown" - Donald and the nephews find ways to raise money for the poor kids in town

"The Gilded Man" - A search for a rare stamp leads Donald and the boys finding El Dorado

- "The Forbidden Valley" - Donald and the nephews discover a lost land of dinosaurs

Just to name a few. There are plenty more.

The great thing about the Carl Barks comics especially when it came to Donald was that although he still had bad luck, it showed him also have great skills in practically everything and it tackled deep emotional issues and real world events such as PTSD, spies/espionage, danger/adventure, poverty, but in a way that was relatable and entertaining.

Donald mixed the best of high action adventure with scenes of intimate, heartwarming domestic life with his nephews. It was literally the best of both worlds: adventure and domestic life.

So the world needs to know that actually it's Donald Duck that deserves the credit for the success of the Carl Barks comics. Not only was Donald first but he was used as the protagonist for many more comics than Scrooge. And I hope if we ever get another version of Ducktales that the writers actually credit Donald as he deserves and not a bunch of semi newbies that don't even exist in the original comics.

There's so much he inspired and influenced that people don't know and so it's unfair for him to be sidelined as he was for characters that haven't accomplished one iota of what he has.

It's time to give credit where it's actually due: to Donald Duck.

Omega Pav wants to scent mark his pack every five seconds. He /needs/ them covered in his scent so they know he loves them and that he knows that they love him back. It's just a way for him to comfort himself while also to show his overflowing affection for all of his friends the only way he knows how; by being as physical as he possibly can with them.

Alpha Hobie takes to it with ease. He settles comfortably whenever Pav pulls him close and rubs their hands together, whether it's their wrists or necks, Hobie lets him do what he wants and reciprocates the affection with eagerness. Out of all the spiders, Pav is the closest with Hobie in terms of being able to show affection, Hobie has always been willing to receive it.

Beta Gwen takes a few tries to get her to really be more open to it. She nearly punches Pav square in the face completely on instinct when he gets too close without permission the first time. But, after a few attempts, she finally allows it and, ever since, she'll let him slip his hand into hers or hug her tightly and rub their glands together, scents mixing.

Omega Miles is the most difficult to get to come around. Despite how he may come across, he doesn't really take to physical affection like the rest of them do. After the events of The Spot, his inner Omega practically curls in on itself and hides itself away to protect itself from further harm; physically and emotionally. Miles and Gwen are awkward around each other for the longest time. He and Pav aren't much better because, well, they don't really know each other. But, Pav would like to know him more, if Miles would let him. Hobie seems to be the only one Miles allows himself to get closer. Well, perhaps it's because Hobie forces himself past Miles barriers and drapes himself over his back or hugs him from the side. But, Pav doesn't want to overstep his boundaries so he plays it safe.

He'll gently graze their fingers together or he'll bump shoulders with Miles after a job well done. When they have movie nights, Pav will stay close to Miles and lean his head on his arm and nuzzle against him. Miles slowly starts accepting more and more from Pav until finally, he lets Pav rub the glands on their necks together, intertwining their scents and making their inner omegas coo and rumble with satisfaction.

When Hobie gets wind, he immediately rushes over to Miles as soon as they are each other again and drags Miles into his arms so he can rumble and nose at the scent glands on his neck. Miles squeals and Hobie chuckles and playfully scents him as the Omega swats him away and rubs at his marked throat.

"You guys are fucking /insatiable/," Miles curses and Pav giggles, draping himself over his back but Miles allows it so it's safe to say he isn't actually upset.

"We just loooove you," Pav coos. "Let us love you!"

"Ain't that bloody right," Hobie says and comes up right in front of Miles so both he and Pav are hugging him from either side. "Let us love ya', yeah? Our lil' Brooklyn-baby."

Miles grumbles but doesn't protest and lets them do what they please. He comes home smelling obnoxiously like his two packmates and it takes /days/ for their scents to wash out...not that he was complaining.

The next time Gwen comes over, he walks over hesitantly and bumps their shoulders together. She turns to look at him, confused but hope burns brightly in her eyes and Miles turns away but opens his arms up to her and Gwen perks up.

She /slams/ into him and Miles immediately begins to purr with affection.

"I'm sorry," She sniffles, tears dribbling down her cheeks. "I'm sorry, Miles. Please believe me."

"I do," Miles tells her honestly. "I forgive you, Gwen."

And, for now, that's enough.

I cannot believe how this hasn't been addressed in the PJO Fandom yet but does no one notice that the books, Rick himself glosses over or downplays the fact that PERCY FUCKING JACKSON GAVE UP IMMORTALITY!!!

And in reason as to why Percy gave up immortality?

The Percabeth stans are only too happy to make "Oh Percy gave up immortality for Annabeth." The hell he did. Have we read the same books? Are you really demeaning the importance of what Percy did. Cause here's what happened, and here's why it's so important:

PERCY GAVE UP IMMORTALITY SO THAT GODS COULD CLAIM DEMIGOD CHILDREN EARLY SO THAT THEY DO NOT REMAIN DEFENSELESS.

Furthermore, he did it so CHILDREN OF MINOR GODS COULD HAVE A PLACE TO BELONG TO, TO HAVE IDENTITY OF THEIR OWN, SO MINOR GODS THEMSELVES CAN BE PROPERLY ACKNOWLEDGED.

Similarly, he further added that CHILDREN OF HADES SHOULD NOT BE OSTRACIZED, THEY AS WELL AS HADES DESERVE TO BE WELCOME INTO OLYMPUS AND INTO CAMP , DESERVE PROPER RESPECT.

What ticks me off the most is how such an important sacrifice such an important change is never addressed again to the extent it deserves.

Cause this is not a surface level thing. This is going to change and better the lives of all demigods that come after or even demigods who were wrongly forced to remain in Hermes Cabin. A safe, more respectful, more meaningful environment for all demigods no matter who their godly parent is.

Are you telling that children of minor gods don't literally worship Percy for doing all this? Don't wholly completely feel grateful at least that he voiced out for them over his own difficulties? That he made a safe place for them happen?

Are you telling me that Minor Gods themselves don't feel at least a little grateful and respect Percy who did this of his own volition without having even met many Minor Gods. That he voiced out for their own children when they couldn't?

Are you telling me that Travis and Connor or any other demigods and cabin counselors don't automatically rave on about the greatness of Percy Jackson to any new arrivals in Camp Half-Blood?

Cause we were robbed of this of a proper homage to the sacrifice other demigods, Luke himself and Percy himself made to make it happen.

Piper, Leo , and Jason all seem so ignorant to it. Even newer demigods in Chalice of Gods or other books seem ignorant to this, and that's so against the usual canon representation of Camp Half-Blood as a community.

We should have seen it in Lost Hero, should have seen it in Chalice of Gods, should have seen it acknowledge repeatedly. You know why?

Yes, Percy didn't want immortality, but don't you know that deep down Percy knew exactly what immortality meant? Eternal protection from his father in his realm. No Gods bothering him, no more sacrifices or death quests. Freedom to do what he wants. To be able to spend time with his family as long as he wants without the worry of risking their safety. And he gave it all up

NOT EVEN IMMORTALITY. GODS WOULD HAVE GRANTED ANY WISH. HE COULD HAVE WISHED ANYTHING. FOR HIM TO BE PROTECTED? NO MORE QUESTS? FOR GODS TO LEAVE HIM ALONE? HE GAVE IT ALL UP, ALL OF IT.

Perseus bloody Jackson made happen what no one in the History of Camp Half-Blood has ever done. He managed to make Gods change their ignorant ways. He dismantled a culture of neglect and abuse.

And the fact Rick himself let this happen, let all this gloss over, and the fact that Percabeth stans have the AUDACITY to insinuate that he did for Annabeth and demean Luke's sacrifice, Percy's sacrifice is beyond me.

Steve Harrington Headcanon Dump time :) (This one is kinda sad)

What if Steve's father didn't push the "boys don't cry" thing that seriously? What if Steve just didn't cry? His parents are kind of concerned that their kid didn't cry when he was injured. They only recall him crying when he was born, and when they came home a week after the mall fire. The second instant was silent, just tears coming down. It was as if it was just being let out. Mr. Harrington didn't do or say anything to make Steve think he couldn't cry. He was just kind of like that.

Steve's dad is kind of afraid of his mom. She did what she had to to survive, a trait passed down to Steve, and that could include hurting people.

Steve has a very high pain tolerance, which doesn't help the whole can't cry thing.

Steve accepted that he was broken. He didn't cry, it took a bit to make him laugh, he wasn't trusting, and he didn't feel when he got hurt. He may not be trusting, but he is loyal. He will protect the few he does care about, but if you lose his trust, there is almost no going back.

Like his mother and father, he learned to use his looks to get what he wanted. Some may say that he is a hustler like his mother, but he just calls it charming. It's the Harrington charm. It's his charm.

His dad doesn't speak to him that much anymore, but he isn't as bad as Neil or Lonnie. If he was, it would be in different ways.

He kind of hates himself

He gets his bitcheness from his father

He learned how to use dual swords because he thought they were cool and had the money

He would much rather get blown up than see anybody else in the party die

He doesn't grieve the way most people do. In fact, he doesn't grieve. He accepted that death is a part of life when he was 7 and watched his uncle drown at sea or something traumatic like that.

Connected to the last one-he thinks he won't live past 40, or 50 if he's really lucky. He's avoided death too much to live for another 20-something years, and he isn't sure if he wants to.

He wants to throw up when the mention of doctors or taking him to the hospital comes up. He is very convinced that something horrible is going to happen. (Am I projecting? Yes.)

The upside-down really fucked up his mind. He swears he is going into psychosis or something.

He's convinced he's gonna ruin Robin, or accidentally hurt her. He can never keep a good thing going, or at least he doesn't think he can.

He will carry everyone (mostly Eddie) around.

After the summer of '85, he started focusing more on being able to lift everyone in case of an emergency. He can now carry 2 hoppers long enough to get him out of anywhere in case of danger.

He finds it a little bit funny that he knew Johnathan was a bit gay. He hates himself for being a dick about it, but he can't but be like "I fucking knew it."

He was fully planning on seducing that professor guy for Nancy.

He has a great poker face and is actually pretty good at lying if he tries.

It's said that the deeper the bow, the deeper the respect.

It's Said That The Deeper The Bow, The Deeper The Respect.

But notice how Aaravos bows to Callum too.

It's Said That The Deeper The Bow, The Deeper The Respect.

Yes, Aaravos made Callum mimic his movements because of the possession, but they didn't do the exact same thing throughout the scene. When Callum was going to each person and saying their insecurities, Aaravos stayed still. When Aaravos sat in the chair towards the end, Callum stayed standing.

So Aaravos purposely bowed to Callum when he didn't have to.

Aaravos has some level of respect for Callum.

This could either work in Callum's favor or make everything 500x worse.

I just realized something sad about Hades.

Ok so, in Rome Zeus, Poseidon and Hades names are Jupiter, Neptune and Pluto. Which are the same names as the planets in our solar system, except Pluto isn't considered a planet, just like how Hades isn't considered an Olympian😭

My postage of ‘ship headcanons’ or ‘ship ideas’ is limited and far between bc there will be this one little bitch commenting “ew why do you ship that” or “x character is straight”…and the fact I can’t physically fight you hurts me deeply

Who Knew?

It’d been awhile since Adrien Agreste had stepped foot in the Agreste mansion. He made his own ends meet and his father was too busy to see him when he’d lived in the same house, let alone after Adrien had moved out. He’d set up a meeting with his father, (which had been almost depressingly difficult, but that was a story for another time) But the trouble had been worth it. After all today was an important day.

The ring on his finger felt extremely heavy ( No, not his miraculous. He’d put that thing away a long time ago) His engagement ring. An inconspicuous silver band that rested on his pointer finger. No gems. Nothing flashy, just how he wanted it. In Adrien’s opinion it looked better on Nino because of how the band contrasted perfectly with his skin, but that was besides the point. The point was that he was engaged to his best friend and he was going to tell his father about it.

Hi can I ask what made you a big fan of Donald Duck?

Hi!! Great question. I think it was the fact that he's the most relatable out of the Sensational Six. That he was the first to be shown as a great adventurer (Scrooge was added later). I love his berserker rages and feats of physical strength.

That he's capable of so many badass feats and has so many just as badass alter-egos (superhero, secret agent, monster-hunter, ninja, mage).

That he's canonically served in both Army (during WWII no less) and Navy (in 1987 Ducktales).

That he's influenced so many things both in fiction (he's the reason for the expanded Duck universe in the comics, Indiana Jones, Inception, Star Wars, anime itself were all inspired by his Carl Barks comics) in addition to real world events too (University of Oregon's Fighting Ducks football team mascot was based off him).

And finally because he took in his three nephews when he didn't have to and tries his best to give them a good life.
