the david zwirner gallery and the felix gonzalez torres foundation in the smithsonian removed the descriptive plaque for portrait of ross in la by felix gonzalez-torres. the old plaque explained portrait for ross' origins as the artist's partner's aids related death, and replaced it with a plaque with absolutely no information about the piece itself, who ross was, or who gonzalez-torres was either. portrait of ross was also reeranged to lay on the floor long ways instead of in a pile as it typically is situated, and the plaque outside the exhibition FOR GONZALEZ-TORRES omits his sexuality, as well as his aids related death. i'm in utter disbelief

Engels IS Marx's sugar daddy

This is a typical capitalist interpretation of Marx-Engels relationship. This kind of so-called “sugar daddy relationship” assumes: 1) the direction of capital asset’s flow determines the position in dominant-submissive relationship 2) the holder of unproductive(=not productive for producing “surplus value” of capital) skill asset is incompetent.

So I really hate that kind of “sugar daddy” interpretation, and Marx is rather dominant in the relationship with Engels because 1) for Engels, Marx’s skill asset for research(the whole work) has no substitutes, but for Marx there are substitutes of capital asset 2) they are socialist so the flow of currency is not that important between them compared to that of the external structure is. If you are a socialist, then don’t say that kind of “sugar daddy” thing.
