the new little mermaid is honestly a perfect example of a story where a woman is strong and independent while still being in a relationship. Ariel never sacrificed her independence to be with Eric, in fact they both helped each other become more independent and they supported one another in their desire for knowledge and to explore. This is the perfect feminist remake tbh all these other retellings and remakes can learn from these writers
