Akusaimonth: Berserk Mode Day 21: Music & Lyrics
Die Welt steht still // The world stands still zwischen uns // between us Mach die Augen wieder auf // Open the eyes again Atme langsam wieder aus // Breath out again Die Welt steht still // The world stands still
[Die Welt steht still - Revolverheld]
"Die Welt steht still" is about two people who slowly drifted away from each other. They have changed over time and each of them has made a lot of mistakes which are now mounting up in between them and creating some sort of an invisible wall. He sings that he doesn't know whether it's too late to forgive all of that, to see each other anew, but he is willing to try it. It's all up to the other.
What really impressed my about this song is the video. It adds a complete new layer of meaning to it. You can see a woman who is pulled out of a river and people running her way trying to save / reanimate her. It was actually this life saving aspect that really caught my attention.
With the woman coming back around during the end of the video it is very clear how the story in the song is supposed to end, I rather wanted to show the uncertain state before the decision instead. I'm not sure myself though, whether this will be a "life saving" or a "going down together" story or something else completely.
Akusaimonth: Berserk Mode Day 20: Teamwork
[Wir sind unzertrennlich // We are inseparable wir sind unvergänglich // we are everlasting Wir sind unzertrennlich // we are inseparably in unserer Welt verloren // lost in our world] [Unzertrennlich – Revolverheld] "Lea, are you even listening?“ "Uhm – sometimes?“ Actually I was just lost in my thoughts somehow. Happens from time to time. "Sometimes? You are aware that school starts in three days?“ "Yeah, I know, I was just thinking …“ "Thinking.“ You sounded as though you doubted I could do that even if I tried. "I thought 'I hope we can always be together like that'“, I said straight enough. And of course you’re caught of guard. And of course I can see your face brighten up, almost shine for one moment, before you turn back to your usual sarcastic pokerface. "Stuck up in homework? No, thank you.“ Still, I can see the little smile you can’t hold back and I know that you are wishing for it just as much as I do. Then again, I already knew that before, didn’t I?
I love it when Axel explains summer vacations in 358/2 Days. I can't help but imagine him and Isa doing exactly that, postponing homework to the very last moment and just somehow managing to get it done in time together. I don't know, this thought makes me just so happy xD
@laytonbrothersbirthdaybash Day 2: Headcanon
I like the idea, that while most adults had a bit of a difficult time dealing with little Alfendi, Uncle Randall got along with him incredibly well and the two of them spent a lot of time together. On one of these stays Alfendi found the (copy of the?) mask, which Randall hid, but couldn't quite bring himself to throw away. Randall didn't tell him what it meant then.
Even as adults, Alfendi gets along better with Randall than with his father. After the incident, Randall visits Alfendi in the hospital and finally tells him what happened at Monte D'Or that time.
Most of these sketches are from 2015, from when I first had that idea. Which means I procrastinated making the final two drawings for FIVE YEARS. But hey, better late than never.
Let me face my fears.
(Isa’s new hair colour looks like space and I love it.)
I finally have free time again!! Yay! Time to show off some of the sketches I did in the last months!
First off, a selection of self-portraits I did in April and May. To me a self-portrait isn't about what I look like, but more about what it feels like to be me. I really enjoyed doing these. (Btw, the text on the third one reads: "But I like wearing a mask." Which was quite a weird realization.)
Step 1 is a thumbnail. A really quick (30 seconds max) really small (3 x 5 cm; that’s actually too big for an actual thumbnail but pssssht) doodle of what the drawing might look like. I'll often do multiple of them per drawing, trying out different poses and angles.
Step 2 is an anatomical and perspective sketch. I took some reference photos of myself to test out poses. It lended up looking way too stiff (as my initial sketches often do, this is my least favourite step). Also, I decided I wanted Isa to look down.
Step 3 was new for me. I was stuck in a place with only post-its and a pen, so I redrew the picture from memory, focussing more on the flow, but with the anatomy and perspective cues I still had in mind from step 2. This worked SUPER well and I think this will be my new MO from now on. So I guess that makes Step 2 a study actually? Wow, using studies in my art, that sounds so professional.
Step 4 is a big step. I took a photo of step 3 and then worked over it digitally. I worked out the final pose I wanted (mix between step 2 and 3), took some new reference photos, played around with the pattern in the background and the flow. Then I printed it (in twice the size I usually work with) and finally …
Step 5 I traced the printed sketch on the paper I want to use for the colours. This step alone took over TWO HOURS and I fixed some details (like correcting tangents) while working on it. Usually I trace only very lightly, often in a pencil that will smudge into the colours. I don't like working with actual lines, I only add them at the very end of a drawing. But this was when I realized I will have to post the WIP and in order for you to see anything at all I jumped over my shadow and drew over the lines again with different pencils (ranging from scale B to 3H). Which took another 1 1/2 hours. Oof.
And that’s where we are now! <3 Next up is colour, but I won’t get to that anytime soon unfortunately :(

AKUSAIMONTH 2015: BERSERK Day 14: SET C - “To Be Left”
It was no surprise when you left. When you betrayed me.
Everything I once believed in went away with you. All my schemes, all my plans.
The very last part of me that had still, foolishly, believed
was finally dead.

AKUSAIMONTH 2015: BERSERK Day 17: SET C - “Void”
It didn’t end. I didn’t know how long I had been falling for. It felt like forever, it felt like an instant. It FELT, I felt. It was all I did, Falling, and Feeling and - remembering. My life passed me by, both of them. A cacophony of sensations and feelings and sounds and voices. The hurt I had caused, the hurt I had been caused. The smiles and the laughs and the love I felt and the hatred. It blurred and twisted and it was beautiful and painful and TOO MUCH and it.
Didn’t.
End.
