This Is A Family I Wanted To Do For A Long Time But For Many Reasons I Just Never Started. It Is Not

This is a family I wanted to do for a long time but for many reasons I just never started. It is not easy to find a good image for reference of marine mammals because the photographs underwater aren't that sharp and also because the majority of the images never show the full body of the animal. Nonetheless, I have to use more than one picture to complete the whole animal, which is fun. Let's begin with a very beloved family that I'm sure we will be surprised by how little we might know about them.

Commerson's Dolphin

Is one of the smallest members of the Delphinidae family with no more than 1.5m lengths. It has a very striking and particular color pattern. The genus has two subspecies. The one in the illustration, C. c .commersonii, can be found on the coasts of South Argentina. The C. c .kerguelensis, is found in the Indian Ocean.

it has been displayed in a few aquariums and this subspecies used to be killed and used as bait to catch crabs in Chile and Argentina. This method however is nowadays been curtailed.

Whales Are Divided Into Three Families. This Is The Second And Biggest: The Balaenopteridae, Which Contains

Whales are divided into three families. This is the second and biggest: the Balaenopteridae, which contains the biggest animal that ever inhabits the earth. However, we will start with its smallest member but also the fastest: the Mink Whale. This is the most common whale and is probably due to its not being commonly hunted by humans. Its size is too small (about 10m) and does not have enough oil yield, so hunting it is not worth it. Nonetheless, the hunting of this whale has increased.

Its name is confusing because it was first confused and classified wrongly. Its name is derived from the Norwegians who usually refer to any type of small whale as Minkie or Minkies' hval.

The Dwarf Mink Whale was described as a new subspecies not long ago and it is not sure yet if is one. Still has not scientific name. Mink Whale in captivity.

Mink whale has been tried to keep in captivity in Mito Aquarium, in Japan a few times. Most of the specimens died in few weeks while in 1956, the last one was able to scape a net aquarium after 37 days spinning the pool in the same direction.

____ I'm really ignorant of whales and most of this information is new to me. It is very hard to understand the information and translated it into something that I am able to explain. I hope is understood. ____ Thanks for your support. Likes, reblogging, or follows are very much appreciated.

My Artwork Featuring All Equine Species And Subspecies Is Now Available In My Store. It's Been About

My artwork featuring all equine species and subspecies is now available in my store. It's been about a year since I began working on horses, so it's satisfying to see it completed. Although they are a well-known and beloved family, there are still some discrepancies among biologists. Questions persist, such as whether the extinct Tarpan should be classified as a species or not, and even the classification of domestic and feral horses. Moreover, it's concerning that four subspecies of this family are already extinct.

Regardless, for those who love horses and those who wish to delve deeper into this captivating family, you can purchase the artwork here:

"Doing An Animal That Is So Beloved Is A Real Challenge. You Want To Have It Right Because You Think

"Doing an animal that is so beloved is a real challenge. You want to have it right because you think people might be pickier. It was a really nice experience going further into minimal details trying not just to catch the shape of the animal but also its soul."

As I mentioned to you in my previous post (If you haven't seen it go check it out) I was going to mix things up. Instead of illustrating the whole family at once, I decided to do a couple of families and show a different member every week. I decided to go with the felines because I know how much they are loved but also how challenging they could be. It is my first feline so I struggle with things that none of the other animals I've done has.

Indochinese Tiger

Tigers are a special species. For many years it was thought that they are 9 subspecies. However, the latest studies (2017) demonstrate that they are just two subspecies and each of them is divided by populations of tigers. This is still in debate but most of the books that I checked welcomed this hypothesis. The Indochinese Tiger belongs to the genus panthera tigris tigris along with the Bengal Tiger, the Amur Tiger, and basically, all the tigers that live in Asia land. The other subspecies is the panthera tigris sondaica which are the groups that live in Indonesia. Sumatran Tiger, Bali Tiger, etc.

The Indochinese Tiger was seen in the infamous and today closed Tiger Temple, in Thailand. Where the monks used to drug the tigers, so people can gather around them without any danger. It is also said that they used to sell body parts of the tigers. I must confess that I went to the place ignoring that such horrible things were happening. What a shame. Something to think about. There are more tigers as pets in the United States than in the wild. W.T.F.! StoreInstagram

As You Know My Plan Is To Do All Mammals And Every Time I Finish One, I Feel That I Am Closer To My Goal.

As you know my plan is to do all mammals and every time I finish one, I feel that I am closer to my goal. I don't need to rush. Step by step I will get where I want to. Soon, I'm releasing a digital collectible sticker album through Patreon. The idea is to find ways to support my work. What do you think of this idea? Please let me know. Rothschild's Giraffe This animal classification is a little bit tricky. Some consider it a subspecies while others consider it an ecotype of the Nubian Giraffe. An ecotype is a species that develops physical differences due to its surroundings. However, genetically is the same species. The term is a little ambiguous because I think describes in many cases, a subspecies or the beginning of one. Rothschild's Giraffe is also known as the Baringo Giraffe or the Ugandan Giraffe. It is known to be one of the largest subspecies. Also, its sight, smell and hearing is well developed and its body is specially built for speed. However, the easiest way to differentiate this giraffe from the other subspecies is that it has five ossicones. Yes, five! (Ossicones are the name for the horns of the giraffes). The normal two that all giraffes have, one in the middle of the head and one behind each ear. Incredible. Is critically endangered despite being one of the best-evolved giraffes. That just can mean that is not the environment the one that is putting in danger the survival of this animal but us. Nature takes over the weakest, we humans, take over the strongest. Dwarf Giraffes? Well yeah. I just discovered that these subspecies have Dwarf Giraffes. They are about 3 meters high, which is close to two meters less than the normal size of these animals. However, scientists speculate their size was caused more by inbreeding due to species decline. ______________________________________________ Credits: Rothschild's Giraffe Rothschild's Giraffe Dwarf Giraffes Photo Credits: Ellen van Yperen ______________________________________________ Thank you guys for all the support. If you like the content please like and subscribe. Rebblogs are also very much appreciated. Thank you to all of you who help me spread the word. Have a happy New Year and I wish all your projects come to fruition. Best!

Please let me know if you like the idea of making a collectible sticker album. I am already working on the book and creating the stickers. I think it will be digital first using my basic knowledge of that stuff but the goal is to have a team to make it an app.

Philippine Mouse Deer

Philippine Mouse Deer

This endangered species was thought to be a subspecies of the Greater Mouse Deer. Was until 2004 that it was recognized as a single species.

It is threatened for a varied number of reasons: Poaching and capture for animal trade, hunting for its meat, which is considered a delicacy while its skin is used to make leather. However, the main problem is, of course, habitat loss.

I think is a shame that this animal is almost like a newly discovered one, and is already endangered. We just get to know it and unfortunately can disappear really soon.

Moving Up To The Giants Of The Kingdom And Favorite Of Many: The Whales. It Is A Numerous Family In Which

Moving up to the giants of the kingdom and favorite of many: The Whales. It is a numerous family in which my knowledge is limited. However, that is why this blog is for, so we all know a little better the beings that surround us. Get to illustrate them wasn't so easy since there is no picture of the whole body of the whale, so I had to combine different illustrations and read about the descriptions of the animal to get the most accurate perspective of the animal.

Bowhead Whale This one is famous because of its particular jaw that has been portrayed in many antique illustrations of sea monsters. Far from the reputation those illustrations can bring, this animal is not aggressive and there is not a single attack registered on humans. Probably with any whale. The most noticeable particularity of this whale is its head which has the biggest mouth proportions in the animal kingdom. Its baleen is used to strain tiny prey from the water and is the biggest of any other whale. It is usually a solitary giant but can be seen in small groups of a maximum of six individuals. Slow swimmer and can be underwater for up to one hour. Believed to be an average diver, still can reach 150 meters deep. I thought was in danger but the reality is that its numbers are steady and growing. However, climate change can affect its numbers since is an animal that inhabits the waters of the North pole.
