As someone who assists people on a daily basis with personal goals, it’s very easy for me to get caught up in helping that person while totally neglecting my own personal needs and problems. My buddy Ben Curtis says that you need to put the proverbial oxygen mask on yourself first before giving it to someone else. You can’t pour from an empty cup either so keep in mind that taking care of yourself before you start taking care of others isn’t selfish, it’s 100% necessary.
Remember, your mental health and your ability to tend after yourself is a sign that you have your priorities straight. There’s nothing sexier about a man or woman than when they take care of themselves mentally as well as physically because if you’re well adjusted, you have that much more time and energy to devote to your partner and helping them.

Life is strange, like, REALLY strange sometimes, lol. One minute you’re seven, playing on the playground and then you blink. Suddenly, you’re 40 and wondering where the hell did the last 35 years go!!!! During those fast 35 years or so, we’ve met people along the way to help guide us, mold us and help shape us into the adults that we currently are. One thing we mustn’t forget though, never lose your childlike wonder and curiosity, just like #Alice here. True, curiosity is what got her into a lot of trouble but she also found out some things about herself that I’m sure she didn’t know before.
The same can be said for us here on Earth instead of in Wonderland. People who tend to drop in on us for a short while are usually there to teach us things that we can use as tools on our journey in life. If we’re smart, we keep listening and stay alert to signals and signs that danger is near or we need to call for help in certain situations. Other times, we can just go with the flow and enjoy it. Whatever the case, hold onto that curious part of you. That part of you that still remembers that seven year old mischievous kid on the playground before the world got to them.

GOD I wish the minimum wage was a living wage.
I'm not flipping burgers, I'm cleaning litterboxes and doing basic vet care like checking weights, administering medicine, bathing, using IVs, keeping records, making lists, doing photography, and way way more. But the point is even if I was just cleaning litterboxes... I love the work. I wish I could pay rent. Shouldn't I be able to clean litterboxes and feed cats who were rescued from the streets and do that fulfilling wonderful work without wondering where I'm going to live?
Shouldn't someone be able to flip burgers, make art, clean up trash, care for the oceans, teach your children, or rescue animals without being forced to choose between their job and their bills?
What if I don't WANT to climb the ladder and use my degree and search for high stress high pay jobs in order to live? What if I want the high stress job of seeing a kitten crashing below survivable temperature and bringing them back from the brink of death, knowing that I'm the only thing standing between this homeless, unwanted kitten and an early grave?
Shouldn't that be enough? Shouldn't I be able to afford food and rent by doing that?
I don't want to work at a vet office that can give me steady pay increases. I want to work here, with cats who have no owners, nursing them back to health and helping pick their forever home. I want the infrastructure to support me in doing that. I want the laws to say I can and have programs in place to make it so my shelter CAN support me. I want rent to reflect wages. I want wages to reflect rent.
I want to help the world and be able to survive doing it. I want to thrive doing it. I want that for everyone.
Why fit in when you were born to stand out!!

Everything in our lives is there to teach us lessons. Those situations happen to help us grow and mature into our roles as human beings with the ability to love, sacrifice and fight for our cause. That being said, most circumstances present a choice on how to react, which way to go or who to spend your life with. In life, there are no guarantees; only choices.
It's not about making the right or wrong one because either way, you are going to learn a valuable lesson that will either help you later on or assist someone else that you share the wisdom you've obtained. When all is said and done in this life, there are no mistakes.
